Jackman's of Bristol, Inc. has been serving the community since 1930 when Glenn Jackman launched the coal and firewood venture, Jackman Coal & Coke Company, in Bristol. Later, his sons entered the family business: Fred in 1946 and Glenn Jr. in 1950. Four of Glenn's sons became part of the business: Fred and Glenn worked in Bristol and later Charles and Ralph in Vergennes, after the purchase of ""Thomas Mack Coal Co."" in Vergennes, which transitioned to Jackman Fuels, Inc. in 1938. In 1947, fuel oil was added to the product line and later added LP gas. By 1967, coal sales ceased.
Following Glenn Jr.'s death in 1974, Fred Jackman assumed full ownership of Jackman's. He operated the business until his retirement in February 1995, when he transferred ownership to his sons, Paul and Peter. On July 16, 2018, Paul and Peter sold the company to Timothy Bouvier and his wife, Kristine Evarts Bouvier. Tim joined the company in 1999. With this new ownership came a new name: Jackman's of Bristol, Inc..
