In 1920, Vearl Manwill prepared his horse and wagon, filled with tools, carbide lights, and a selection of pipes to start a mission that took him to various farmhouses to install “modern” carbide lanterns and piping. These installations contributed to the first indoor lighting systems in history. After some time, Vearl decided to make Salt Lake City his home and subsequently opened a plumbing shop in his garage on 2700 South. In 1943, he opened his first showroom on 300 South in Salt Lake City. His shop was a complete hardware store that sold washers, dryers, and even jewelry. Vearl bought one of the earliest television sets in Salt Lake City. Though the television only displayed black and white images, it became a sensation in the community and attracted many visitors. Over time, Vearl shifted his focus away from selling jewelry and appliances to concentrate on what he excelled at—plumbing and heating supplies. The business is now managed by his grandson.

Currently, the business is led by Jim Manwill, the third generation. Jim spent his childhood in the family business engaging in tasks from trench digging to plumbing new homes, executing repairs, and selling HVAC products. Jim now employs over 40 skilled service professionals dedicated to providing outstanding customer service, dependable products, and high-quality workmanship. Jim earned the ""Circle of Excellence"" recognition.
