In 1920, Vearl Manwill loaded his horse and wagon with tools, carbide lights, and pipes to embark on a journey that took him to various farmhouses to set up “modern” carbide lanterns and plumbing. These installations contributed to the first indoor lighting systems in history. After some time, Vearl decided to make Salt Lake City his home and opened a plumbing business from his garage on 2700 South. In 1943, he established his first showroom on 300 South in Salt Lake City. The shop was a full-service hardware store offering washers, dryers, and even jewelry. Vearl bought one of the earliest television sets in Salt Lake City. While the TV only showed black and white pictures, it became a sensation in the community and drew crowds of people. In time, Vearl no longer needed to sell jewelry and appliances to focus on his expertise—plumbing and heating products. The business is now managed by his grandson.

Today, Jim Manwill, the third generation, runs the business. Jim was raised in the family business engaging in tasks from trench digging to plumbing new homes, executing repairs, and selling HVAC products. Jim now employs over 40 skilled service professionals focused on delivering exceptional customer service, reliable products, and quality craftsmanship. Jim was honored with the ""Circle of Excellence"" award.
