In 1920, Vearl Manwill prepared his horse and wagon, filled with tools, carbide lights, and a selection of pipes to start a mission that took him to various farmhouses to install “modern” carbide lanterns and piping. After some time, Vearl decided to make Salt Lake City his home and opened a plumbing business from his garage on 2700 South. In 1943, he established his first showroom on 300 South in Salt Lake City. His establishment was a comprehensive hardware store that sold washers, dryers, and even jewelry. Vearl purchased one of the first television sets in Salt Lake City. Even though the TV set featured only black and white visuals, it became the talk of the town and attracted many visitors. Over time, Vearl shifted his focus away from selling jewelry and appliances to dedicate himself to what he did best—plumbing and heating goods. The business is now managed by his grandson.

Today, Jim Manwill, the third generation, runs the business. Jim was raised in the family business engaging in tasks from trench digging to plumbing new homes, executing repairs, and selling HVAC products.
