In 1920, Vearl Manwill prepared his horse and wagon, filled with tools, carbide lights, and a selection of pipes to begin a journey that brought him to many farmhouses to install “modern” carbide lanterns and piping. His work was integral to the first indoor lighting systems ever established. After some time, Vearl decided to make Salt Lake City his home and subsequently opened a plumbing shop in his garage on 2700 South. In 1943, he opened his first showroom on 300 South in Salt Lake City. His shop was a complete hardware store offering washers, dryers, and even jewelry. Vearl purchased one of the first television sets in Salt Lake City. While the TV only showed black and white pictures, it captured the attention of the town and attracted many visitors. Over time, Vearl shifted his focus away from selling jewelry and appliances to dedicate himself to what he did best—plumbing and heating goods. Today, the company is run by his grandson.

Currently, the business is led by Jim Manwill, the third generation. Jim was raised in the family business doing everything from digging trenches to plumbing new homes, performing repairs, and selling HVAC equipment. Currently, Jim leads a team of over 40 trained service experts committed to ensuring the best customer service, trustworthy products, and superior craftsmanship.
