In 1920, Vearl Manwill prepared his horse and wagon, filled with tools, carbide lights, and a selection of pipes to start a mission that brought him to many farmhouses to set up “modern” carbide lanterns and plumbing. These installations contributed to the first indoor lighting systems in history. After some time, Vearl decided to make Salt Lake City his home and opened a plumbing business from his garage on 2700 South. In 1943, he opened his first showroom on 300 South in Salt Lake City. The shop was a full-service hardware store that sold washers, dryers, and even jewelry. Vearl purchased one of the first television sets in Salt Lake City. Even though the TV set featured only black and white visuals, it became the talk of the town and attracted many visitors. Eventually, Vearl moved away from selling jewelry and other appliances to dedicate himself to what he did best—plumbing and heating goods. The operation is currently overseen by his grandson.

The business is now under the leadership of Jim Manwill, the third generation. Jim was raised in the family business doing everything from digging trenches to plumbing new homes, performing repairs, and selling HVAC equipment. Currently, Jim leads a team of over 40 trained service experts focused on delivering exceptional customer service, reliable products, and quality craftsmanship. Jim earned the ""Circle of Excellence"" recognition.
