In 1920, Vearl Manwill set out with his horse and wagon, equipped with tools, carbide lights, and piping to embark on a journey that took him to various farmhouses to install “modern” carbide lanterns and piping. These installations contributed to the first indoor lighting systems in history. After some time, Vearl decided to make Salt Lake City his home and subsequently opened a plumbing shop in his garage on 2700 South. In 1943, Vearl launched his first showroom on 300 South in Salt Lake City. The shop was a full-service hardware store that sold washers, dryers, and even jewelry. He acquired one of the first TVs in Salt Lake City. Though the television only displayed black and white images, it became a sensation in the community and attracted many visitors. In time, Vearl no longer needed to sell jewelry and appliances to concentrate on what he excelled at—plumbing and heating supplies. The business is now managed by his grandson.

Today, Jim Manwill, the third generation, runs the business. Jim spent his childhood in the family business doing everything from digging trenches to plumbing new homes, performing repairs, and selling HVAC equipment. Currently, Jim leads a team of over 40 trained service experts dedicated to providing outstanding customer service, dependable products, and high-quality workmanship.
