In 1920, Vearl Manwill prepared his horse and wagon, filled with tools, carbide lights, and a selection of pipes to start a mission that took him to various farmhouses to implement “modern” carbide lighting and piping. His work was integral to the first indoor lighting systems ever established. Eventually, Vearl opted to establish himself in Salt Lake City and subsequently opened a plumbing shop in his garage on 2700 South. In 1943, Vearl launched his first showroom on 300 South in Salt Lake City. The shop was a full-service hardware store offering washers, dryers, and even jewelry. Vearl bought one of the earliest television sets in Salt Lake City. While the TV only showed black and white pictures, it became a sensation in the community and brought in large numbers of people. In time, Vearl no longer needed to sell jewelry and appliances to focus on his expertise—plumbing and heating products. Today, the company is run by his grandson.

Currently, the business is led by Jim Manwill, the third generation. Jim was raised in the family business doing everything from digging trenches to plumbing new homes, performing repairs, and selling HVAC equipment. Jim now manages a workforce of more than 40 qualified service technicians focused on delivering exceptional customer service, reliable products, and quality craftsmanship. Jim was honored with the ""Circle of Excellence"" award. Recent accolades include ""Best of State"" for 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, and 2015 as well as the Angie's List Super Service Award for 2008-2015.

Also part of the team is Jim's nephew, Brian Jackson, a fourth-generation member. Brian has been a full-time employee since 1994.
