In 1920, Vearl Manwill set out with his horse and wagon, equipped with tools, carbide lights, and piping to embark on a journey that would lead him to numerous farmhouses to install “modern” carbide lanterns and piping. His work was integral to the first indoor lighting systems ever established. Eventually, Vearl opted to establish himself in Salt Lake City and opened a plumbing business from his garage on 2700 South. In 1943, he established his first showroom on 300 South in Salt Lake City. His shop was a complete hardware store that sold washers, dryers, and even jewelry. Vearl bought one of the earliest television sets in Salt Lake City. While the TV only showed black and white pictures, it captured the attention of the town and drew crowds of people. Over time, Vearl shifted his focus away from selling jewelry and appliances to focus on his expertise—plumbing and heating products. The operation is currently overseen by his grandson.

The business is now under the leadership of Jim Manwill, the third generation. Jim was raised in the family business engaging in tasks from trench digging to plumbing new homes, executing repairs, and selling HVAC products. Jim now employs over 40 skilled service professionals dedicated to providing outstanding customer service, dependable products, and high-quality workmanship.
