In 1920, Vearl Manwill loaded his horse and wagon with tools, carbide lights, and pipes to begin a journey that would lead him to numerous farmhouses to set up “modern” carbide lanterns and plumbing. His work was integral to the first indoor lighting systems ever established. After some time, Vearl decided to make Salt Lake City his home and opened a plumbing business from his garage on 2700 South. In 1943, he opened his first showroom on 300 South in Salt Lake City. His establishment was a comprehensive hardware store offering washers, dryers, and even jewelry. He acquired one of the first TVs in Salt Lake City. Even though the TV set featured only black and white visuals, it became a sensation in the community and attracted many visitors. Eventually, Vearl moved away from selling jewelry and other appliances to focus on his expertise—plumbing and heating products. The operation is currently overseen by his grandson.

The business is now under the leadership of Jim Manwill, the third generation. Jim grew up immersed in the family business engaging in tasks from trench digging to plumbing new homes, executing repairs, and selling HVAC products. Jim now manages a workforce of more than 40 qualified service technicians focused on delivering exceptional customer service, reliable products, and quality craftsmanship. Jim was honored with the ""Circle of Excellence"" award.
