Founded in 1944 by Homer Potter, Potter Heating started as a single-person business based in Fayetteville. As time passed, the company grew and moved several times. In 1981, after running the business successfully for 37 years and dealing with health problems, Homer sold the company to its current owners, M. Suzanne and David Kondra. Homer stayed engaged with the business until his death in 1986.

In addition to the quality of its Bryant equipment, Potter also manufactures much of the ductwork used in its installations. M. Suzanne DeFuria holds the position of President at Potter Heating & Air Conditioning, a firm that has been in operation since 1944. The company provides heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems and services, along with metal fabrication. In 1985, she also became Vice President of Perrone Plumbing.

In 1986, she was the only woman to complete a mentorship program in the Syracuse Builder's Exchange for women and minorities. She still values her mentorship relationship even after 22 years. Additionally, Suzanne studied for and obtained her heating license, being one of only two women in CNY with this certification. She engages with her staff daily, learning from their expertise.
