The tale of our company
Arthur W. Crooks, our founder, was born in 1885 in the city of Goshen, Indiana and transferred to the city of Sturgis, Michigan when he was just a child. Even though he was the highest achiever in his class, he was offered a chance to attend college to study at Hillsdale College, however financial constraints held him back from attending.
He became an educator in the town of Colon, Michigan and around 1907 he moved in the city of Battle Creek to start his plumbing career.
During 1909, he was appointed as the plumbing inspector in Battle Creek, however returned to plumbing in 1911 by working with Hanchett Plumbing, a business he ultimately purchased in 1912. At that time, he earned 12.5 cents an hour.
Arthur's offspring, including Helen, Walt, and Warren participated in the plumbing industry. Helen along with Warren operated the business from the mid-1950s until March in 1980. Now, the business is managed and owned by Arthur's grandson, Arthur W. Crooks II.
