He studied at the University of Washington in Seattle and graduated from the US Coast Guard Academy in New London, Connecticut during the war. The family came to Kansas City from England during the gold rush and has been here ever since. His uncles were involved in the construction of the first sewer system in Kansas City.

He began the plumbing business with just a pair of pipe wrenches. Since he couldn't afford a truck, he relied on the family car for his first service calls. He transported pipes and heavy fittings in a trailer. While raising their three children, his wife handled phone calls at home. She took service calls, and Dick Ray responded to them by phone and attended to the jobs. They offered 24-hour service even in those early days.

The family that arrived in Kansas City from England and helped lay the first sewer six generations ago is still thriving. In 1941, when Japan attacked Pearl Harbor, Dick Ray was attending the University of Washington in Seattle. He departed Seattle to enroll in the Coast Guard Academy in New London, Connecticut, where he graduated as an Ensign.

Following his service in the South Pacific, he returned to New Orleans as the commanding officer of his LCI, where the ship was decommissioned after the war.

Three years later, in 1949, back in his hometown of Kansas City, Dick started his plumbing business and began a family with his new wife, Shirley. He couldn't afford a truck and began his business using the family Chevy for service calls, towing an equipment trailer. Dick took on all the labor by himself, as he had no assistants. While raising their three children, Shirley answered the phone at their home in Merriam. She regularly handled service calls and passed the work orders to Dick.

Even in those early days, they provided 24-hour service. The phone rang by Dick's bedside, and he was always ready to take the call.

Mike Crosby, a Kansas City native, graduated from Bonner Springs High School in 1980. Mike and his wife Sandy have been together since high school. Inspired by his father-in-law, a plumber, Mike developed an interest in the trade. After completing four years of education at Plumbers Local 8, Mike graduated with a Journeyman's License and later obtained his Master Plumber's License.

He completed an apprenticeship at A.D. Jacobson focusing on commercial plumbing. He then moved into residential plumbing, gaining extensive experience in the local sector. After spending a year at KU Medical Center as a Maintenance Supervisor, an opportunity emerged for Mike to start his own company.
