Dick Ray was educated at the University of Washington in Seattle and graduated from the US Coast Guard Academy in New London, Connecticut during his military service. Mike Crosby grew up in the Kansas City area graduating from Bonner Springs High School in 1980. Mike and his wife, Sandy were high school sweethearts. Mike's father-in-law, a plumber, sparked his interest in plumbing. After 4 years of schooling through Plumbers Local 8, Mike earned his Journeyman's License and went on to receive his Master Plumber's License.

He completed an apprenticeship at A.D. Jacobson focusing on commercial plumbing. He then moved into residential plumbing, gaining extensive experience in the local sector. Following a year as a Maintenance Supervisor at KU Medical Center, he saw a chance to launch his own business.
