Eldred and Jo Ann Lewis founded the company in 1965 as Lewis Heating & A/C. Situated at 202 S Broadway in Larned, they provided quality Maytag appliances, Motorola TVs, and Coleman heating and cooling systems, along with servicing all brands. In 1971, they moved to their current address at 622 Topeka Street. In 1977, Steven Lewis, their son, entered the business as an HVAC technician. Steven acquired the company from his parents in 2008 and rebranded it as Comfort Systems Inc. to reflect the growing emphasis on comfort and energy efficiency.
Steven is a licensed plumber and mechanical contractor in Kansas. He is trained as a home energy rater and has been part of the Refrigeration Service Engineers Society since 1992. Additionally, Steven is NATE certified in duct installation and air distribution.

Steven, a lifelong resident of Larned, KS, is a Leadership Larned graduate and has served as a member and Chair of the Building and Trades Board for the City of Larned. He is involved with the Fort Larned Lions Club, serving as Treasurer. He has occupied all leadership positions in the Club and served as District Governor, subsequently being elected Council Chairman for the Lions of Kansas.
