In 1923, Harry Berger founded Standard Plumbing, installing the first coal-fed, gravity-fired furnace in Manhattan, KS. After establishing our reputation, we took on our first large project, installing plumbing for the new Wareham hotel. That’s right, the same Wareham hotel!

During the tough times of the Depression and Dust Bowl, Mr. Berger went to Alaska to search for gold, leaving his wife to oversee operations. Upon returning from Alaska, Paul Anderson joined the company in 1941 as an apprentice plumber and worked there for 16 years before acquiring it in 1957.

Later, Paul’s sons, Rick and Dale, joined the family business. In 1958, we were proud to install the town's first central air conditioning unit. Rick bought out Dale Anderson's interest in the business in January 1988.

The company was sold to four employees in 2004. Three of those employees continue to serve on the Board of Directors and supervise the company’s operations.
