Standard Plumbing was founded by Harry Berger in 1923, when we installed our inaugural coal-fed, gravity-fired furnace in Manhattan, KS. Once our name was established, we landed our first significant job, which was the plumbing installation for the new Wareham hotel. Yes, that Wareham hotel!

In the midst of the Depression and Dust Bowl, Mr. Berger traveled to Alaska to pan for gold, while his wife managed the business. After his return from Alaska, Paul Anderson became an apprentice plumber with the company in 1941, eventually working there for 16 years before purchasing it in 1957.

Later, Paul’s sons, Rick and Dale, joined the family business. We made history in 1958 by installing the first central air conditioning unit in the area. In January 1988, Rick purchased Dale Anderson's portion of the company.

The company was sold to four employees in 2004. Today, three of those original employees still serve as the Board of Directors, managing the company’s daily activities.
