Daryl Welker founded Poor John's Plumbing in 1987. He aimed to improve his family's living conditions. He met his future wife in 1995, who joined him as a business partner. The couple ran the company together until 2014. Now, their son and nephew continue the family legacy.

Bob's Rooter Service began was established by Bob Trowbridge in the year 2000. Brett, Bob's son, joined him during the summer and after classes from the start and now works full-time at Bob's Rooter. Bob's path into the construction industry began following his parents purchased a local hardware business in the historic Northeast area of Kansas City located at St John and Hardesty for a decade. This hardware store was put on the market in the year 1988 after Bob's parents chose to retire. Afterward, Bob took on the role of the manager for Evergreen Lawn Care in Grandview, MO, which was later taken over by Barefoot Lawn Care, leaving Bob to seek new employment again. In 1991, Bob joined as the manager of the shop for Reddi Services at their old location located in Turner, KS. In time, Bob shifted to fieldwork with Reddi Services as a service tech and worked there until the spring of 2000 when he lost both his parents. Bob made the choice to go into business for himself and said goodbye to Reddi Root'r.

My plumbing career began thirty-five years ago at Morgan Plumbing & Heating Company. After obtaining my master’s license, I sought new challenges, which I pursued by joining the well-regarded Kansas City franchise, Roto Rooter. There, I had the opportunity to establish a plumbing department from scratch, acquiring knowledge of corporate processes while serving a diverse customer base throughout the Metro area.

As I conducted plumbing training sessions for new employees at Roto Rooter, I honed my knowledge of various plumbing products. After five years, driven by a yearning for greater independence, I co-founded Morgan Miller Plumbing with Bob Miller in 1997. Our common goal was to create a business that values fairness and generosity for all, employees and customers alike.
