On June 1, 1973, Gladston Mealor and his son, Sidney Mealor, founded Plumbing Distributors, Inc. at 166 Buford Drive in Lawrenceville. Glad and Sid, along with two other employees, managed the small operation that provided counter sales and delivery.

On February 13, 1976, PDI became an authorized distributor for American Standard. This was a crucial development for PDI. The American Standard line allowed us to establish ourselves as a competitive player in the plumbing sector. This success paved the way for us to partner with other leading plumbing brands, such as A.O. Smith water heaters and Aqua Glass bath fixtures.

As PDI continued to grow, it was evident that we required a larger space. The company aimed to remain close to its origins in the Lawrenceville area. A site was acquired in an undeveloped industrial park off Collins Hill Road, providing easy access to Georgia Highway 316. Our Corporate Headquarters were based at 20 Collins Hill Road from 1984 to 2006, but we needed to find a new location to facilitate further growth.
