My sibling started the company in 1983 after spending time with Culligan for many years. We have been working to keep the company as a family-run business, but after he died, we have had to expand outside of the immediate family.

Our Master Plumber Richard Hume launched Pro-Tec Plumbing, Inc. in 2008 with a few tools and containers of fittings from the back of his truck. Like any determined entrepreneur, he committed himself day and night, distributing flyers to attract new customers and connections. Despite a tough downturn in 2009, Pro-Tec Plumbing persevered; each year, we expanded our offerings by bringing on new employees, equipment, and assets to the company. Having reliably grown over the years, Pro-Tec Plumbing, Inc. has transformed -- we are now Pro-Tec Plumbing, Water & Gas, a full-service water system provider. What began as a solo operation is now a thriving company with over 50 employees. Though we continue to grow, Rick's original promise remains the basis of Pro-Tec: develop a business centered on hard work and transparency and provide the quality of work we would want in our own homes.

Brothers Richard (Rick) and Brandon Hume were raised in Plymouth, Massachusetts, where they grew up until the early 2000s.

Brandon relocated to Florida in 2004 to study at Florida Gulf Coast University, where he was involved in golf and studied in finance. Meanwhile, Rick developed a increasing passion for plumbing; he earned his license as a Master Plumber in 2008 and initiated what would evolve into Pro-Tec Plumbing, Inc.

After finishing his degree, Brandon assisted in hand-digging Rick's first residential home in 2009. He opted to partner with his brother for good as the company's vice president in 2011, managing the office side of the enterprise.
