I am Bland Parker, named after my forebear who was an early Virginian. He lost a retail store during the economic downturn and started working in the coal mines.

Bland's brother started the operation in 1983 after gaining experience with Culligan for many years. We have been trying to keep the operation as a tight-knit enterprise, but after he died, we have had to expand outside of the kin.

Our Master Plumber Richard Hume founded Pro-Tec Plumbing, Inc. in 2008 with just tools and containers of fittings from the back of his pickup truck. Like any determined entrepreneur, he devoted himself day and night, passing out flyers to find new customers and leads. Despite a difficult downturn in 2009, Pro-Tec Plumbing persisted; each year, we expanded our services by adding new employees, trucks, and assets to the company. Having reliably grown over the years, Pro-Tec Plumbing, Inc. has transformed -- we are now Pro-Tec Plumbing, Water & Gas, a full-service water system provider. What began as a solo operation is now a successful company with over 50 employees. Though we continue to grow, Rick's original commitment remains the foundation of Pro-Tec: build a business centered on hard work and honesty and provide the quality of work we would want in our own houses.

Brothers Richard (Rick) and Brandon Hume were brought up in Plymouth, Massachusetts, where they grew up until the early 2000s.

Brandon transferred to Florida in 2004 to attend Florida Gulf Coast University, where he was involved in golf and majored in finance. Meanwhile, Rick developed a deepening passion for plumbing; he achieved his license as a Master Plumber in 2008 and launched what would become Pro-Tec Plumbing, Inc.

After finishing his degree, Brandon supported in excavating Rick's first residential home in 2009. He decided to team up with his brother permanently as the company's vice president in 2011, running the office side of the company.
