Stokes developed its presence across South Florida, becoming a well-known entity in the construction of condominiums, medical and research buildings, public and educational structures, and commercial developments. While we increased our operations in construction, the necessity of a service department was clear. Initially beginning with repairs for the buildings it had constructed, Stokes Mechanical's HVAC and plumbing service division expanded rapidly. Following the addition of General Plumbing as a division of Stokes, we have established ourselves as a more significant player across the region.

In the year 1995, Sonny handed over the business to his daughter, Susan, who had been part of the team at the company since 1983. Beginning her career as the front desk staff, Susan worked her way up becoming bookkeeper, lead estimator, VP, and today is the President and CEO. Susan received her air conditioning license in 1989 as well as a plumbing license two years later, becoming the sole female mechanical contractor in Palm Beach. Susan garnered numerous awards for her accomplishments as a female-owned business leader and serving actively as a member of the Florida Construction Industry Licensing Board between 1997 and 2002.
