As we expanded in building, the need for a service department became apparent. Initially beginning by servicing our own constructions, Stokes Mechanical's plumbing and air conditioning service department has grown rapidly. With the establishment of the General Plumbing branch to Stokes in June of 2013, we have established ourselves as a more significant player in South Florida.
During 1995, Mr. Stokes transferred control to his daughter, Susan, who had been with the company since 1983. Initially working as the receptionist, she advanced her career becoming the financial manager, chief estimator, Vice President, and today is the President and CEO. Susan earned her air conditioning license back in 1989 as well as a plumbing license two years later, making her the first the first female mechanical contractor in the county. Susan garnered several honors for her accomplishments as a female-owned business leader and serving as a member of the Florida Construction Industry Licensing Board between 1997 and 2002.
