E.C. ""Sonny"" Stokes founded Stokes Mechanical Contractor, Inc. over six decades ago due to the need for reliable plumbing services in the area. Located in Lake Worth, FL, our headquarters and workshop continues to operate with the direction of Susan, his daughter.

We grew its presence across South Florida, gaining recognition as a leader in developing residential complexes, medical and research buildings, government and educational buildings, and commercial developments. As we increased our operations in building, the necessity of a dedicated service division emerged. Starting with repairs for the buildings it had constructed, our service department has grown rapidly. Following the addition of the General Plumbing branch to Stokes in June of 2013, we have established ourselves as a stronger presence in the South Florida area.

In 1995, Mr. Stokes handed over the business to his daughter, Susan, who had officially worked since the early 80s. Starting out as the front desk staff, Susan progressed through the ranks to the bookkeeper, lead estimator, VP, and now serves as President and CEO. Susan earned a state license for air conditioning in 1989 and the plumbing license two years later, becoming the first female mechanical contractor in the county. Susan has received several honors for her accomplishments as a prominent female business owner and having served on the State of Florida Construction Industry Licensing Board for five years from 1997 to 2002.
