Sonny Stokes started Stokes Mechanical Contractor, Inc. back in 1963 in response to a shortage of reliable plumbing services in our community. Based in Lake Worth, our headquarters and workshop is still active with the direction of his daughter Susan.

Our company expanded our footprint across South Florida, becoming a leader in developing condominiums, healthcare facilities, government and educational buildings, and commercial developments. While Stokes expanded in building, the need for a dedicated service division emerged. Initially beginning with repairs for the properties we built, our HVAC and plumbing service division developed significantly. With the addition of our General Plumbing division as a division of Stokes, we are now an even greater force in South Florida.

In 1995, Mr. Stokes passed the leadership to Susan, his daughter, who had been with the company since the early 80s. Beginning her career as the front desk staff, Susan advanced her career to bookkeeper, lead estimator, Vice President, and today President/CEO. Susan obtained a state license for air conditioning in 1989 and a plumbing license two years later, becoming the sole female mechanical contractor in Palm Beach. Susan has received several honors for her accomplishments as a prominent female business owner while also serving as a member of the Florida Construction Industry Licensing Board between 1997 and 2002.
