She earned a state license for air conditioning in 1989 as well as a plumbing license in 1992, making her the first the only female mechanical contractor in the county. She earned numerous awards for her achievements as a leader of a woman-owned business and having served on the Florida Construction Industry Licensing Board between 1997 and 2002.
