Roy D. Parkey entered the refrigeration industry in 1955 but was disheartened by the lack of customer service and quality workmanship. In 1961, Roy founded Parkey's in Xenia, Ohio, using a 1955 Cadillac to fill this gap and provide ""Cadillac"" service to his customers. Roy and his wife, Sarah Ellen ""Judy"" Parkey, raised four children: one daughter and three sons. The oldest son, Monty, was joined by Tim, Mark, and Robin, each approximately two years apart. In the early days, ""Judy,"" Tim's mother, managed the phones while caring for their four children. Tim Parkey, the second son, began his work journey at 13, taking on weekend and summer jobs.

By age 15, Tim realized this was the career path he wanted to pursue. Tim signed up for HVAC classes at Green vocational school in his eleventh grade. At the same time, he took night classes at R.S.E.S (Refrigeration Service Engineering School). His instructor at GVS placed him in an advanced job placement program during the second quarter of his eleventh grade as a trial, and the results were remarkable. Securing meaningful employment at such an early age was a great blessing for him. With his strong work ethic and mechanical skills, Tim found it to be an ideal match. Driven by a passion for service, he felt he was exactly where he needed to be. Following a back injury, Roy Parkey opted to move to Florida, which enabled Tim to assume ownership of the company at only 18. Tim upheld a legacy that has lasted 37 years, starting on February 12, 1973.
