Roy D. Parkey entered the refrigeration industry in 1955 but was disheartened by the lack of customer service and quality workmanship. In 1961, Roy founded Parkey's in Xenia, Ohio, using a 1955 Cadillac to fill this gap and provide ""Cadillac"" service to his customers. Roy and his wife, Sarah Ellen ""Judy"" Parkey, were blessed with four children: three sons and one daughter. The oldest son, Monty, was joined by Tim, Mark, and Robin, each approximately two years apart. In the early days, ""Judy,"" Tim's mother, managed the phones while caring for their four children. Tim Parkey, the second son, began his work journey at 13, taking on weekend and summer jobs.

By age 15, Tim realized this was the career path he wanted to pursue. He chose to attend Green vocational school for HVAC in his junior year. Simultaneously, he attended R.S.E.S (Refrigeration Service Engineering School) at night. His instructor at GVS placed him in an advanced job placement program during the second quarter of his eleventh grade as a trial, and the results were remarkable. Discovering valuable work at a young age proved to be a tremendous blessing for him. With his strong work ethic and mechanical skills, Tim found it to be an ideal match. His desire to serve others confirmed he was in the right place at the right moment. After suffering a back injury, Roy Parkey chose to move to Florida, giving Tim the chance to lead the company at the young age of 18. On February 12, 1973, Tim carried on a legacy that has endured for 37 years.
