Roy D. Parkey entered the refrigeration industry in 1955 but was disheartened by the lack of customer service and quality workmanship. In 1961, Roy founded Parkey's in Xenia, Ohio, using a 1955 Cadillac to fill this gap and provide ""Cadillac"" service to his customers. Roy and his wife, Sarah Ellen ""Judy"" Parkey, raised four children: one daughter and three sons. The oldest son, Monty, was joined by Tim, Mark, and Robin, each approximately two years apart. In those initial days, ""Judy,"" Tim's mother, took care of phone inquiries while nurturing their four children. Tim Parkey, the second oldest son, began working weekends and summers at the age of 13.

By the time he turned 15, Tim decided this was the path he wished to follow. Tim signed up for HVAC classes at Green vocational school in his eleventh grade. He also attended R.S.E.S (Refrigeration Service Engineering School) in the evenings during this period. His instructor at GVS placed him in an advanced job placement program during the second quarter of his eleventh grade as a trial, and the results were remarkable. Finding meaningful work at such a young age was a significant blessing for him. Tim, being hardworking and mechanically inclined, discovered it was a natural fit. His desire to serve others confirmed he was in the right place at the right moment. Due to a back injury, Roy Parkey decided to relocate to Florida, allowing Tim to take over the company at just 18 years old. On February 12, 1973, Tim carried on a legacy that has endured for 37 years.
