The owner and operator, Denis O'Halloran, hails from His father, Frank O'Halloran, also shared this legacy. The business began in 1964 as Hayes Valley Hardware, Heating and Plumbing in San Francisco. In 1966, the company relocated from Filmore to the Southwood Shopping Center at Orange and El Camino in South San Francisco.
While attending Arch Bishop Riordan High School, Denis started working at Southwood Hardware, Plumbing and Heating, helping his father and his father's partner, Bill Sylvia. Upon graduating from Riordan High School in 1981, Denis acquired a partnership in the company from Bill Sylvia. He began working full-time in the business from that moment on. As a Certified Plumbing Inspector, Denis has also taught apprenticeship courses at San Mateo Adult School, affiliated with the Plumbing, Heating, and Cooling Contractors Association. He holds certification as a backflow tester from the American Water Works Association. Denis is licensed with a C-36 Plumbing License and a C-20 Heating/HVAC License from the State of California. He enjoys fishing in his spare time and has celebrated 20 years of marriage.

I deployed my completely outfitted Daystar vehicle to serve Mike's customer base, quickly swapping branding signs for the two businesses as needed.

I maintain a good relationship with them, and former fellow employees of the now-closed businesses.

I started doing plumbing for a community member, Bright Winn, in the early 1980s after coming back to SF from teaching English in Japan for 2 1/2 years.

I am passionate about environmental issues, and have made several trips with a coalition to speak to the U.S. Congress, the executive branch and the World Bank regarding environmental protection and the ecosystem at my own expense.

I am actively engaged in environmental advocacy, actively opposing egregiously bad development, and am currently active in community sustainability initiatives, the Pacifica Climate Committee, & the city council-selected ""Task Force for Climate Action"".
