Denis O'Halloran, the owner/operator, is a native of His father, Frank O'Halloran, also shared this legacy. The business began in 1964 as Hayes Valley Hardware, Heating and Plumbing in San Francisco. In 1966, the company transitioned from Filmore to its current location at the Southwood Shopping Center on Orange and El Camino in South San Francisco.
Denis began his journey in plumbing while he was a student at Arch Bishop Riordan High School, taking on work at Southwood Hardware, Plumbing and Heating, helping his father and his father's partner, Bill Sylvia. After completing his education at Riordan High School in 1981, Denis purchased a partnership from Bill Sylvia. At that point, he committed to working full-time in the business. Denis is a Certified Plumbing Inspector and has instructed apprenticeship courses at San Mateo Adult School through the Plumbing, Heating, and Cooling Contractors Association.
