Recommended Customer Reviews
This company will try to over charge you on a insane level and at the same time give you horrible service! You are better off with literally any other heating and air company, they are the worst business I have had the misfortune of dealing with.
Our a/c unit in our newly built home had a sticker on it saying to call yellow dot for service. It went out and we did. Again and again with no answer. Won't bother calling again.
Betty W.I have been a customer for 15 years but am switching. I had 2 appointments for preventive maintenance and they never showed up during the 4 hour window. I wasted 8 hours of my time. No apologies from a Yellow Dot.
I learned that they have changed management. They probably will lose many customers who remember when Yellow Dot was a good company.
Cassandra H.We called today (40 degree day) when our heat cut out. The thermostat didn't seem to have power and we tried all the google suggestions. There was a company sticker on the furnace, so we decided to call Yellow Dot.
Thomas come out within two hours and diagnosed the issue in seconds. It was $90 ($40 with coupon online) for him to come out (no extra for weekend visit), plus $120 for him to fix the disconnect switch. He fixed the switch in about 10 minutes. He said it was very common in our neighborhood, not the first he's fixed out here. He did a great job showing us what the issue had been and what he fixed. Was polite, took shoes off, etc. We'd have him back for sure.
We did need to print out the coupon for him to take back to the office (maybe an issue for other people to do, not for us).
I'll have to update the review after we have them back for a cooling tune-up this spring to see how our experience compares to others. We did sign up for a maintenance plan since we do need a tune up anyway. Hopefully our experience it more positive than the reviews here. Definitely was cautious with them coming out because of the poor reviews.
Horrible customer service if you have a maintenance contract with them. I guess they figure they already have your money, so they don't care if they keep their appointments or not.
Scheduled between 10- 2. At 2:25, had to call them, their tech. was still at another job. A simple phone call ahead of time would have been the appropriate and courteous thing to do. Unfortunately, as with most businesses in the construction/maintenance field, they have zero customer service skills.
Tykiesha S.I don't know if the other reviewers and I are using the same Yellow Dot. I have been using this company for over 5 years. I remember it like it was yesterday. I was pregnant and it was the hottest day of the year when our A/C went out in our home. I called and asked if they could get someone out that day and explained what I thought the problem was. The person who answered the phone put me in touch with someone who gave me estimates, explained how to receive a discount, and guaranteed that some one would come out -THAT day.
Since then, we have used them for our yearly maintenance and they have even replaced a unit in my rental property. They came out, recharged the old unit for the day, and offered that tenant a loaner unit at no cost to me.
I love their yearly maintenance plan at around $150 because they come out twice a year and you get discounts on their services.
Lastly, I am most impressed because we had to replace the unit at our main home and not only did they come out inclement weather, they also registered our unit, signed us up for a warranty, and registered us for applicable rebates with the electric company....all initiated by them!
We have found them to be friendly, honest, and reliable and recommend them to anyone who needs HVAC work.
Unfortunately I used Yellow Dot and was completely ripped off. First I was told $400-$500, then the price went to over $900.00. I had to call a couple times for an itemized bill ( which I never got) but was told $539.00 for a part which costs $132.00 and $298.00 for 30 minutes of labor. Apparently it's 149.00 an hour but the guy sat in his truck waiting for the part so I was also charged for that. Then there was a ""diagnostic fee"" of $90.00. I called several other companies to see what their charge would have been and everyone else was about half. Also when I first called for the itemized bill the woman I spoke to even said I was overcharged but then somehow decided I wasn't.
Vivian S.We have a gas leaking problem, after call gas company checked and turn off the gas they suggested call a local company to fix and we call Yellow Dot. We told them we need some one to fix the leaking, but we have waited all day and then the guy came said didn't found problem (yes, $96 dollar just for look) and said need reschedule come tomorrow. And we called next day again the person answered the phone said if found the problem that they can't fix and we have to looking for some other gas company to fix. It's terriable service, likes just collected money and do nothing. Yellow Dot is really not a professional business.
Alex M.If you have the dollars to throw away, this might be a good choice. I have a 4 year old, 1 unit system that was installed by Yellow Dot, so I decided to call them as my installer. The Compressor started making noise on startup so I shut the unit down and called the repair guy. They were courteous and sent someone on the next business day and stated the 90$ service visit fee (~96$ Thank you North Carolina for charging sales tax on services as of 2016).
Being that my unit is 4 years old I have a full parts warranty. My surprise is that the technician claimed to want $137 in LABOR to install the capacitor (he already had installed it and confirmed this was the solution). I asked what I was saving in parts with my warranty and he claimed it was typically ~90 I informed the technician to remove the new capacitor and I appreciate his service.
I can appreciate 90$ for the service call, I think he did a great job opening and diagnosing, checking the refrigerant etc. That is worth 90$.
But to charge me 137$ labor for unscrewing the capacitor terminals and placing in a $12 part is ridiculous.
My review is not a 1 Star, because the technician was professional and did good work on the diagnostics, I am sure he had no control over the inflated pricing.
Elizabeth T.Why would a company make an appointment (with a window of 8 hours), call to tell you their en route, then call back 20 minutes later to say ""Just Kidding!"" They sent the wrong person so it'll be another 2 hours before someone will be at your house... never mind that I took my lunch break to deal with their lack of professionalism...
