Recommended Customer Reviews
Our water heater broke on Easter. Jason from Winters was at our house early the next morning. Everyone was surprised at how quickly I was able to get someone to come out, especially without calling it an emergency. Jason was extremely thorough. He evaluated the problem and gave me several options for an estimate based on how much I wanted to fix. He recommended going with the lowest price option and if that didn't work, we could try the next one. (and the $ from the first job would be credited to the next). It was nice to see the full range of options, all the way up to replacing the entire water heater. This way I could tell when a fix would be a waste of $$ (b/c certain fixes were almost as much as a new water heater) So it helped me make my decision.
While he was on site I realized we had a leaky faucet he could look at as well. The same thing happened. He explained how much it would be for a fix vs a new faucet. And while he was about to recommend the fix, I went with the idea of the new faucet, because it was so close in price.
I never felt like I was pressured to spend more. Nor did I think his prices were unreasonable. I also don't understand the other reviews that mention a price for coming out to assess the job. Maybe this was an old practice? Jason assured me several times that they do not charge to evaluate a job.
I've been looking for a good plumber for years. I will absolutely use Jason at Winters Company again, and recommend him to others.
Winters Company (Jason M specifically) were great. Maybe a little on $ side, but not out of whack w/ other professional plumbing companies in the area at all. We've used them twice, once to fix leaky sink, another more recently for busted disposal. Purchased disposal on my own to cut cost a but---what i really liked about them was ease of scheduling appt, promptness of being able to get one quickly and professionalism Jason showed through entire process. Nice guy who explained things, broke down the issue and fixed in a timely manner...would use them again. As someone who has little/no knowledge in plumbing issues, I know i'm going to have to pay when things break, and winter's company was v good. Again, not cheap, but they do a good job, and give you range of options on fix (different prices)--up to you to not get upsold if you don't want, but they're not pushy. Will use them again as needed.
These guys are awesome! I had a brand new HVAC system put in right before the winter and my place has never been warmer. Not only that but it was installed fast and neatly by the courteous and friendly staff. AMAZING!! And to make things even better, they gave me the best price from all the quotes I got. Thanks Winters plumbing, you make my heart warm!!!
I don't get it... Why so much money for so little work. Yes you had me by the short hairs and I needed the repair. They replaced a 2ft drainage pipe that was exposed and no need to cut the wall. $1400 for 10 minutes of work and IT IS STILL LEAKING!!!! We are canceling the check until someone explains the value what they did and fix the leak. It would be nice if they took $500.00 off the bill. I didn't sleep at all last night knowing I got robbed. I sell software and now I am thinking about becoming a plumber.
Call around BEFORE you use them.
I recommend getting multiple bids if you have Winters quote a job for you. We were quoted $1200 for a toilet installation - labor only as we were providing the toilet. The ""recommended"" option was for them to provide a toilet and a service contract (which seems to be constantly pushed as I've read in other reviews) for over $3000. Fortunately it was not an emergency and we had time to get additional bids.
Winters gave me an estimate for what I considered two minor repairs-- over $3000! I said no thanks. Had repairs expertly done by another company for $230!
I had a leak in my ceiling and was unhappy with my current plumber so I called Winters. The service IS good. The plumbers and dispatch staff are helpful. Dispatch is able to schedule you promptly. I thought I would be waiting for a long time with Hurricane Irene and all, but they came the same day both times I called. They give you a window that they come within, but if you are at the end of the day they normally come at the end of the window or late. Still they come. The plumbers are knowledgable and know how to fix the leak. They are also quick to do the job.
The problem is that the price is just ridiculous. They charge $150 to just come out and look at your problem on a weekend ($50 during the week). Then the price to just do a small amount of work is huge - just to cap a pipe is $1200.
I want to like them, but I don't know if I will call them again. If it is a big job then probably, if it is a small job then I might try someone else.
This place is a scam! We used them once in an emergency but quickly learned after the fact how over priced for mediocre work they were. They convinced us at the time to get a service contract which we thought we had cancelled. We learned though a recent review and switching of bank accounts that they had not. We of course are liable for the monthly fees spent so far but now we want to warn others.
Do not use this company! Trust me this is an unpaid review!
Also be sure to review the unfiltered reviews. I don't know how yelp's algorithm is set but it stikes me that the filter is set to hide the negative ( or in my opinion) true reviews. Be sure to look at the unfiltered reviews in addition to the officially sanctioned reviews.
I am giving 2 stars because my 1 star review was filtered. People, please, click on ""filtered reviews"" at the bottom of the page to see all the reviews, not just the ones that the software decides are true. You will see consistent evidence that this company cannot be trusted. Yes they cost more than anyone else by far, but the real issue is they are unethical and quite frankly, will say anything whether it's true or not. There should be enough reviews that bear this out - buyer beware.
I don't know who might be writing positive reviews for these highway robbers unless they are. When someone shows up to ""look at the job"" and is carrying a briefcase, beware. I had a mere leaky faucet in one bathroom, a toilet seat I could not remove and a toilet that would not completely shut off. I was told I needed a new toilet (I didn't) which would be $900. Excuse me, sir! I said ""I'll let you know"" and then called a reputable company from Watertown who fixed all 3 for $95. I feel bad for older people and women who might not know any better.
