Wimpy's Dependable Plumbing, Inc. was established in 1973. My father, Winfred Butler, decided to name his business after his nickname, ""Wimpy"", to ensure that customers would recall the amusing name and link it to reliable, quality service.
After Wimpy's passing in 2003, I chose to carry on the legacy of quality service that our customers relied on. As someone who has lived in Sarasota for three generations, I was immersed in the plumbing field from a young age and became the youngest master plumber in Florida at just 18. My sister, Lori, gave me the nickname ""Bubba"", who had difficulty pronouncing brother. Lori, with her cheerful voice and vibrant personality, has held the position of office manager for 38 years.
My son, Mike, represents the third generation of licensed master plumbers in our family. As a family-owned business, we are committed to addressing your family's plumbing requirements.

Avoid Wimpy's. It's that simple. Just over 18 months ago they installed a water heater in our home. The installer broke the existing drain pan at the time, but quipped """"don't worry, with this water heater, you won't need it anyway."""" Well, 18 months later the heater is leaking into the heater's electronics. I called today to get a replacement installed. I figured that since the original Rheem heater has a 6 year warranty, that the replacement would be at no charge - or at maybe a nominal fee. But Wimpy's wants the astronomical amount of $700 for the installation of a new water heater that comes free to them from Rheem because of the warranty -- and this is a discount from the $1200 price because we're such good customers who have spent more than $20,000 on HVAC and plumbing over the last 2 years. They sold me a lemon for $1500 about 18 months ago and now want another $700 for a couple hours of work to install a replacement. I'm dumbfounded at the greed. Does any contractor stand behind their products and service any longer? Is there an honest contractor left in Florida? I haven't found many. I asked why they won't stand behind their products... Why does a warranty replacement cost so much. Jesse (a manager?) gave me some BS answer that you'd get from all of the least reputable contractors in Florida. Basically, they sell you crap and hope that you'll keep paying over the short life of the product. I've been in Florida for 22 years and have heard most of the excuses for bad workmanship and service. I won't throw good money after bad. I'll try to find another plumber who can install a quality product. You should too.

I have never felt so ripped off in my life. Charged 1600.00 for a 40 gallon electric water heater 900.00$ that cost 500.00 2hrs labor700.00. Wonder how they sleep at night. Never again will I use them our recommend them. They just suck people dry.

Austin came out to do a routine maintenance check and spend hours going over everything. At one point he asked, """"Did you install a new thermostat recently?"""" I told him, """"Yes, your guys did it."""" He walked outside for a phone call and returned. He then admitted that the thermostat was improperly installed causing the a/c and heater to run simultaneously. Now our FPL bill had increased by almost 300% each month since that installation but we never associated the two. Calling FPL about the dramatic increase only brought excuses like, """"It's your faulty pool pump, rate increases, high temperatures, blah, blah, blah."""" Austin's phone call, I'm sure, was to his boss. He told me the tech screwed up. Gather together you FPL bills from the month of the install forward, and we will reimburse you for the difference between last years monthly bills and this year. They even requested a copy of the charge per unit of electricity from last year so they could allow for any for increase per unit. They cut us a check for over $1000 dollars. Now they could have easily hidden this mistake, but chose to take the high road and make it right. Now you show me a company with this amount of honesty and integrity, and they have my business for life, just like Wimpy's has my business for life.

Our AC unit failed yesterday evening and Charlene was able to have a technician at my house at 8:30 this morning. Thank you so much Charlene - you are always so responsive and professional whenever I call. And Chris you are outstanding , appreciate you very much!

Had a backed up drain in the house. Called Wimpy's and they sent Cody to the rescue. After about 20 minutes of assessing my problem and snaking the main drain in my front yard, everything was running like a charm. Definitely #1 in the #2 business!

I can't say enough about Cory who came to give an estimate on fixing issues with water hammer that has happened after a poor job previously done by another company when repiping our whole house. He was knowledgeable and efficient in recommending what could be done. I wish we had discovered Wimpy's prior to spending $18K with the other company because we learned there were many failures with that job and fortunately Wimpy's (Cory) will be able to address some of them.

Replaced the A/C system. It was a huge job done with the utmost professionalism. I would highly recommend for all plumbing and air conditioning needs. Company went above and beyond to get the job done. Thank you!

This company is a huge ripoff!! Quoted $200 to change a water filter which is laughable. Couple minor plumbing jobs totaled over $700!! Will never use again.

We called them to diagnose our AC problem. Tech came out and said we were low on Freon (410A), it was going to cost $600 to refill it. I asked him where is it leaking from, he stated probably a very small leak in the evaporator coil, but also stated that he never charged it or added dye to check for a leak with a UV light. He insisted on charging me $79 for this """"assesment"""" and never offered to actually find the leak. He was more interested in getting the $600 Freon Recharge Fee. I will NO longer be utilizing Whimpys for anything!!! We had them out the very next week to offer us a brand new system replacement and they kept offering us knockoff systems for more money than original systems. Sad to say the least. Owners/Mmgt, you need to spend a lot of money training your sales and service teams. You also need to compensate differently, based on your go to market strategy.

We just had all of our old systems replaced and couldn't be happier with the results. True professionals and great employees. Quality work, really easy to work with, showed up on time, and left everything neat as a pin each evening. I would give them a 10 if I could.
