Extremely dissatisfied with Whipple . If I could give 0(ZERO) Stars I would. Called for a leaking pipe and a ($44) drain clear. When the Tech arrived, he spent over 2 hours doing a (whole system audit) and Pushing very hard for upsell, water heaters shot, need water softener, Upselling the maintenance program, again, extremely pushy. A Thousand ($1,000) dollars later, They did fix the leaky pipe(cutting 3 holes in the walls), along with a faucet problem they found in their (System Audit). But, did not bother addressing the plugged drain that was part of the initial call.
They are nothing like their commercials make them sound!!! Extremely pushy on the upsell and maintenance program!!!
KINGS of the UPSELL,UPSELL,UPSELL..... don't get dupped, DO NOT CALL THESE GUYS!!!!!!!!!!
They didnt follow through with what they said they could do. Took off work for nothing. Go with anyone else. Dont use these people.
If I could I would give this place zero stars. They are pushy and rude. Between the time I made the appointment and their arrival they called me six times trying to push additional services. It was only one hour. I ended up turning them away without bidding my job! DON'T EVEN BOTHERING CALLING THESE PEOPLE!!!!
High pressure bait & switch artists. If you get a quote from these guys, PLEASE do yourself a HUGE favor and get a second quote from a reputable company. I unfortunately did not do that, and got bilked out of an additional $1,600 that was supposed to be a ""free"" water heater. Buyer beware.
Taryn J.Don't not use these guys!!! I had them come out to look at a tub faucet that was bent. Luckily the pipe wasn't bent as much as we thought, so he bent it back into place and it took him 10 minutes. After he fixed it he asked if he could look at our water heater, which I thought was weird, but he said since he had to change me a service fee he might as well check it out to make sure everything looked okay. And surprise surprise our water heater was leaking? I'm seriously wondering if he did something to it while I was upstairs checking on my kids. I thought it was suspicious, but had him give me a quote just in case it was a coincidence. I asked him to give me numbers for a tankless and a regular unit. He quoted me $2500 for the regular and $5500 for the tankless and he acted like that was a deal. He said he gave me $500 off what it normally is. I thought that was high, so I called a friend who has a brother that's a plumber. He quoted me $1200 on the regular unit and $3000 for the tankless. Needless to say I told them we were going to have someone else do it. These guy are ripping you off!!!! Also he tried to change me $300 for bending the pipe back. I argued with him and he finally dropped it down to $165, which is still ridiculous for what he did. They prey on house wives that don't know better.
On 01/23/19 Kaleb came to our home in Tooele, he was very professional and respectful and cleaned up after himself explained every detail of service provided. Fantastic customer service. I have been meaning to review this company since that day but fell short. It is well worth taking the time to do so. I very much appreciate great service when I get it. I usually do not write reviews with good or mediocre service only when its extremely bad or extra ordinarilly good. Kaleb is exceptionally professional and treated us very well. The price was very good for installing a new toilet and hauling away the old one.
Lee Boger installed a new garbage disposal for us today. He was friendly, fast and did a great job. We also had Bill Jones out today to do a tune up on our heater. He was also friendly and very knowledgeable. Thank you for the great service.
We just had Whipple install three new toilets and we love them! Sheila was so good to help us find, and change, times that worked in our schedule and Lee was the ultimate professional - he was in and out in less than two hours and clean and courteous in the process. Couldn't be happier!
Craig R.I called Whipple out because my water softener had developed a leak. The tech was young, clean, and courteous, which was the only good thing about the experience. He examined the holding tank and told me it was not repairable, then charged me $1800 to replace the entire unit.
Many times what the job should have cost, when a simple o-ring replacement would probably have fixed the problem.
My own fault for being gulled, but these folks are masters of the over-sell, and don't know what a cheap, honest service call is.
I would NEVER USE WHIPPLE again and would not recommend them to anyone. I do not usually write reviews, but I am a senior citizen who was ALSO SCAMMED. I made the mistake of trusting they would be fair, honest and upfront about costs. I did not get other bids in advance and suffered the consequences. They are very smooth talking, deceptive and overpriced. They never gave me a reliable quote or a statement of real costs after completion. Other companies told me they charge two to three times what any other company does.
The reason I called them was to clear a clogged drain in the furnace room. Adam arrived and promised to give me a discount if I signed up for the Club Membership for $20 a month, so I did. He used a black and white camera which showed I had corrosion and tree roots in my sewer line with places where the pipes had slightly slipped out of alignment. Aaron arrived the next day with a bigger color camera to confirm the need for the liner. He said they would only charge about $500 to fix my drain, if I arranged to have the liner installed, so I made arrangements. They planned to dig a hole six feet out from the house in my front yard and install clean out pipes in my garden. The hole would be about 8 feet deep, 4 by 6 feet wide and would cost $8,000 to $16,000 for 50 feet of liner. The landscaping would be removed and then replaced. Aaron offered to get me a new Gerber toilet for the upstairs bathroom to seal the deal and settled on a price of $10,000.
That afternoon, Adam took about 2 hours to jackhammer out my floor, put in a 12"" pipe and a new drain, which should have cost about $60 in parts, plus $200 max for labor. He admitted he was usually on the DIG TEAM and had never used a jackhammer or mixed cement before. There were pieces of cement sprayed five feet out from the drain in every direction that he left for me to clean up. He bent back the metal edging on the carpet and now it will not lay flat. The cement is very rough with coarse gravel visible on the surface and he charged me $1476. In shock, I signed the IPAD, which cleaned out my checking account.
The next day I came to my senses and cancelled the Membership and the future destruction of my front yard. I got bids from other companies ranging from $7,000 to $9,000. I hired ROTO ROOTER at the lowest price and they did a great job. The 18"" by 26"" hole next to the inferior work done by Whipple, included 75 feet of liner, a smooth professional cement finish and a lifetime guarantee. They also used a color camera and had a City Inspector come before and after the work was completed to make sure it was done correctly. I contacted Whipple and spoke with their public relations person about their ridiculously high prices and their very unsatisfactory work. I asked for $900 back, so they sent me a check for $300 a month later. Like I said, I will never use Whipple again. This was an expensive lesson and I plan to let the Better Business Bureau know that they target and take advantage of Senior Citizens.
