Before launching his business, Jim gained experience working with Steve Bursowski at Steve's Heating and Cooling. Steve guided Jim for several years, and in 2006, Jim founded Wagner's Service and Repair, focusing on home remodels and new builds. In 2009, Jim shifted his business focus to HVAC and plumbing, rebranding as Wagner's Service and Installation. Jim is both a Master Licensee and a licensed contractor.

As a native of Cedar Rapids/Marion, Jim completed his education in Marion, graduating from LinMar High School in 1991. Jim is a father of three and is currently single. Jim values spending time with his family. On the northwest side of Cedar Rapids, Jim enjoys tinkering in his garage when he has free time. When he has the chance, you might see Jim restoring his 2006 Honda CBR 1000, which was damaged in 2015. Jim hopes to have the bike operational again. Jim is passionate about helping others, regardless of the task's size. Jim often helps neighbors by cutting down trees and clearing driveways, sometimes without being requested.
