Prior to starting his own company, Jim worked under Steve Bursowski at Steve's Heating and Cooling. With Steve's guidance, Jim started Wagner's Service and Repair in 2006, concentrating on home remodeling and new construction. Jim transitioned his business to HVAC and plumbing in 2009, renaming it Wagner's Service and Installation. He is a Master Licensee and a licensed contractor.

As a native of Cedar Rapids/Marion, Jim completed his education in Marion, graduating from LinMar High School in 1991. Jim is a father of three and is currently single. Family time is important to Jim. On the northwest side of Cedar Rapids, Jim enjoys tinkering in his garage when he has free time. If time permits, you may catch Jim working on his 2006 Honda CBR 1000, which he hopes to restore after it was wrecked in 2015. Jim hopes to have the bike operational again. Jim enjoys lending a hand to others, whether the task is large or small. He has been known to help neighbors by removing trees and plowing driveways, often without being asked. Meeting him means gaining a friend for life.
