Vito Services provided same day service when my regular plumber could not. They replaced a garbage disposal that was leaking but for an exorbitant price - $815!!!! They also charged the credit card service fee to me as well. Apparently it is part of their company policy to charge the service fee to the customer. I cannot imagine ever using Vito services again.
I had a bad feeling about this company, but they were willing to come right out to check our A/C. The first thing I asked for when J G arrived was his HVAC license. He told me that he didn't carry it with him and he called the office on front of me threatening to leave if I insisted. He pointed to the license on the truck; said that should be good enough.
He told me that he had been fixing A/C 's for MANY years. This might have been the first tale. He had no ID and no license to show.
I told him that my husband thought it was the capacitor. He fooled around for awhile and then told me he replaced it and the A/C still didn't work. He quoted me $900 for a new motor; told me emphatically that it needed a new motor and they could have one installed by week's end.
I told him I would think about it.
Later in the day a wonderful, honest gentleman from Island Breeze, came to look at the A/C and he replace the Capacitor. The A/C is working very well. I paid Island Breeze just over $200. Darvin at Island Breeze has his license with him AND he brought a diagnostic kit to test all aspects of the A/C. Extremely competent and polite.
The man fro Vito was not honest and he wasted my time. I truly believe that he did not know what he was doing. I should have gone with my initial instinct.
Short version: The installation job was unprofessional, and Vito Services has not rectified the situation. If they do, I will update this review.
I contacted Vito Services in late July 2022 to replace an A/C unit at my mother's home in Bethesda, MD. At the beginning the sales rep we were dealing with was very helpful and responsive. Part of the estimate involved installing a pump and running a condensate line to the exterior of the house, as required by local code. The existing line was routed directly into a floor drain in the furnace room. I don't live at the home, but the installation was done on August 2nd. On August 8, I was able to check the work and saw that the rigid condensate line from the pump in the furnace room terminated at the brick wall of the exterior, and a clear vinyl tube was clamped to it. The tube was hanging down in front of a bathroom window and secured in place to the brick. The water would drain directly next to the foundation of the home, and the tubing was already kinked.
I reached out to the sales rep on August 8, sent him a photo explaining my concerns, and let him know that I didn't think this was a professional job. He told me that his field supervisor would be in contact about fixing the line. I don't remember exactly when someone came out, but their ""solution"" was to simply remove the vinyl tubing. The result of this is that water gets pumped out and goes directly into the newly installed unit creating a huge spray of water. On September 6, I sent a video to the rep showing him what was done and let him know that this ""solution"" was unacceptable.
I called the office and spoke with someone who suggested that I reach out to the customer service manager, so I sent an email with a photo and video of the initial installation and the solution. The customer service manager responded and copied the HVAC manager and told me that he did not consider the installation finished and would be happy to rectify the situation. I was assured that this would be fixed, but that never happened.
I received a call in April asking to set up a complimentary HVAC inspection. I set up an appointment and asked if this condensate line situation could be addressed during the same visit. The scheduler couldn't help with that, so I sent another email to the customer service manager and HVAC manager asking if the line could be fixed at the same time. I was told that someone would accompany the technician, and this would be resolved. I took off work to meet the technician, and when I asked about the line, he told me that he knew nothing about it. He called the office and then suggested that I reach out to the head of installation.
To date, nothing has been done to fix what several employees at Vito Services have admitted is an incomplete and unprofessional job.
My father's back bathroom developed a leak that seemingly came from the sink... this was correctly diagnosed as a split/cracked pipe in between that sink and the adjoining laundry room. I have no problem with the assessment or the work that was done.... what I have a problem with was the obvious price gouging that was done to take advantage of an elderly man in a situation where he could not exercise competent discretion .... an estimate beforehand would have been appropriate and professional. There was no estimate and received a bill in excess of $2100.00! If you do the math for the approximate five hours that they spent doing the work on two separate trips, we are talking over $400 an hour! Ridiculous! And frankly exploitative.... My sister called Vito's to complain about the absurd price and they gave her a 10% discount on the overall bill but that did nothing to address the fundamental overprice of the work that was done.
Vito's may be a competent plumbing service but the fundamental lack of ethics make Vito's just another contractor that takes advantage of consumers that should know better but often don't or as in this case... can't.
Second time Brandon from Vito has been out to our house. Did an awesome job! Very professional and incredibly knowledgeable.
If I could give them negative stars I would. While my home was flooded with sewage and feces from an apartment building backup I was told that the plumber that was supposed to be dispatched wouldn't answer their call. The plumber who should have been there immediately, told us to our face he didn't feel like coming when the company first called him to report to our home, instead he slept and ignored calls. And every time we spoke to the company we heard ""15 more minutes, 30 minutes, 1 hour."" So instead of helping someone in need, my home is now completely destroyed. I called at 10am only for him to come at 5pm when I had nothing left to save. It's the most evil, and selfish display of a human I ever experienced. Stay away from this company. I work in construction and facilities management and I have the upmost respect for those who do these hard jobs, but never in my life I met a company who had no soul or care for human life. If you don't care about people and safety don't work in this field.
Daniel arrived on time after calling, put on booties before entering our home and was very knowledgable about our two HVAC systems. In addition, he was great to work with. He resolved an issue with our thermostat in quick order and provided some great tips on programming the device. This was a very positive experience.
Erik from Vito was courteous, efficient, and clearly had lots of experience.
I was extremely please with the services that Vito provided me. First off, the understood right away that i had an emergency that needed quick response. The got a competent technician out to my house in record time. Daniel White the technician was professional and took time to explain the issues and his course of action. After 2 hours, everything was humming again. Thanks guys!!
Vito Services is terrific. I have used them for two major jobs now. The first time was to replace a sewer line from the house to the street. They did a fantastic job. This time, I had my HVAC convectors replaced in my condo and they did a wonderful and neat job, and it was done quickly and efficiently. The customer service and communication with the customer is excellent and they keep you informed every step of the way. Vito is the only plumber I will use or recommend in the DC/MD/VA area because they are the best.
