Our founder, Larry Mapes, has 35+ years of experience in renewable energy. During this time, the nation experienced a solar revival, while our area remained at the cutting edge of innovative solar technologies, as it remains today.

Taos is a special area for solar applications due to its high solar resource and experimental architecture. This context has provided Mr. Mapes with a wealth of information of what is effective and what is ineffective over a long test period in harsh environments. These years of observation have proven invaluable in creating and implementing reliable solar energy systems and the best methods for integrating solar energy into each application.

Larry Mapes, the owner, has more than three decades of experience in renewable energy and currently holds electrical, mechanical engineering, and contracting licenses in NM, as well as various journeyman certifications for residential and industrial applications. He is a NABCEP certified solar thermal installer.

He is also a charter member in the NABCEP committee for solar thermal, and a part of the technical committee for the Solar Energy Code (an IAPMO code by IAPMO), his expertise continues to shape national standards for the solar sector. His legislative work within the State of New Mexico has also given him a valuable insight on energy policy overall.
