Larry Mapes, has 35+ years of knowledge in solar energy. During this time, many regions experienced a renewed interest in solar, while Northern New Mexico remained at the cutting edge of pioneering solar technologies, as it continues to be.

The town of Taos is a distinct area for solar energy due to its abundant sunlight and experimental architecture. This dynamic setting has provided Larry with a rich knowledge of what works and what does not over a long test period in severe conditions. These years of observation have proven invaluable in creating and installing trustworthy solar installations and the optimal ways to incorporate solar energy into various uses.

Our founder, Larry Mapes, has over 35 years of experience in solar energy and currently holds electrical, mechanical, and general contractor licenses in the state of New Mexico, as well as additional certifications for domestic and commercial applications. He is a certified by NABCEP solar thermal installer.

He is also a charter member in the NABCEP Solar Thermal Committee, and a part of the technical committee for the Uniform Code for Solar Energy (an IAPMO standard by IAPMO), his expertise continues to influence industry standards for the renewable energy field. His advocacy within the state of NM has also given him a keen perspective on overall energy policy.
