Larry Mapes, the owner, has more than three decades of experience in renewable energy. During this time, most of the country experienced a solar DE-Renaissance, while Northern New Mexico remained at the leading edge of innovative solar technologies, as it does today.

Taos is a special area for solar applications due to its excellent solar potential and diverse architecture. This learning environment has provided Mr. Mapes with a deep understanding of what is effective and what is ineffective over a significant timeframe in harsh environments. These decades of experience have proven crucial in developing and implementing reliable solar energy systems and how best to integrate solar energy into different setups.

Larry Mapes, the owner, has 35+ years of knowledge in solar energy and currently holds electrical contracting, mechanical, and general contractor licenses in NM, as well as other journeyman's certifications for home and commercial applications. He is a NABCEP certified solar thermal installer.

He serves as a charter member in the NABCEP committee for solar thermal, and a technical committee member for the Uniform Solar Energy Code (an IAPMO code by IAPMO), his skills continues to help set industry standards for the solar sector. His legislative work within the state of NM has also given him a unique viewpoint on energy policy overall.
