Our water heater pilot light would not stay lit, and we were aware we needed a new thermocouple. We called Valley Plumbing as they had recently repaired my fathers water heater from 1993. Our unit is from 1996. The plumbing tech came to our house, looked at the outside of the unit without even looking at the pilot light and said our water heater was too old and needed to be replaced for 3k. The tech charged us $65 to come out, without even looking at the interior of our unit! He told us that ""they can't get parts for it anymore because it's too old"". I called Tommy Rooter, they came out at 8:30am and replaced my thermocouple this morning for $175. My water heater is great now and working good as new! I REALLY do not like leaving bad reviews, but this was extremely unethical business practices.

If you are not familiar with plumbing services, beware of this company! Yes, as many others have noted in their reviews, their pricing is definitely on the high side and the knowledge and skills of their employees vary. I have had them service our home three times in the last 2 years. A new water heater installed due to a leak in the old one, a new water pressure regulator to replace an aging and defective one, and new water lines running to the toilets. All of this was done professionally and was completed timely so I was not too concerned about the high cost. Based upon that, I signed a maintenance agreement at a minimal monthly charge, which included annual inspections free of charge. Today their technician arrived for the first annual inspection. He drained the water heater which is recommended annually and then checked on everything else. Low and behold, upon his inspection, I was told that we needed a new water regulator due to high pressure and new lines / connections to the toilets. He seemed surprised when I told him all of this was replaced less than a year ago. He appeared to not know about the previous work that was done and I asked him to check everything again. Obviously, as it turned out, we did not require anything other than a slight adjustment to lower the water pressure on the regulator to 75 psi which is required to maintain the warranty. I do not blame the technician....I am sure he is told to upsell everything he can by upper management if he can get away with it whether it is required or not. Yes, beware of this company and what you are signing with them!

I wish I could even give this place 2 stars, but I just can't. It was such a headache to deal with them that it just isn't possible to give them that much credit.

Cliff notes:
Didn't finish job, let alone START the job.
Shocked at the exorbitant pricing and lack of professionalism

Full story:
The two plumbers showed up two and half hours late. Upon looking at what I had contracted them to do, they immediately stated that they didn't have time to complete the job because they had a company party they needed to attend. Instead of starting the work, they went outside and sat in their van for over an hour. I got a call from their dispatch saying they didn't have access to the 1 toilet upstairs, which is why they were outside (mind you I had several other things they could have been doing and they had access to the upstairs toilet all along...)

Now, let's talk money. As other reviewers have mentioned, the quotes are exorbitant. $1,600 to remove one toilet and a dishwasher, install two toilets and the dishwasher. $362/set each toilet. I hired a different plumber who did all that, plus fixed laundry machine hook ups (2x), installed washer/dryer and repaired toilet valve for $680. Such a rip off it was comical.

Ultimately they did the right thing and comped a toilet install so I would at least have a functioning toilet over the weekend since their incompetent plumbers didn't have time to do (or even start) the job they showed up to do. I appreciate the kind offer, but sadly it wasn't enough to make the experience worth while..or warrant adding a second star. They also agreed to refund the previous charges (of which I haven't seen any sort of refund almost a month later). I've now followed up with them 2 times and filed a grievance with my credit card company.

To this date, I have asked for a copy of the estimate and work to be performed at minimum 3 times and have yet to receive any documentation.

Update. They claim no mention of a refund, so I'm out almost $800 to remove a toilet. Absolute hard pass on this company. It's straight up a fraud. I have found a complaint with my credit card as well

. . . our toilet was continuing to run, and making strange sounds . . .
called Valley Plumbing, explained our problem, and was very happy
to be scheduled for an appointment within an hour . . . Danny, the
technician called about 10 minutes later, asking if it would convenient
to come bye earlier . . . and he arrived . . . was personable, professional,
and explained his repair procedure . . . he presented the repair estimate
and then proceeded to complete the work.
. . . once again, Valley Plumbing has exceeded our expectations, they exhibit
the finest customer service we receive from any company, and we recommend them highly . . .

A very professional and responsive company. Drew came to my house today to flush out my water heater and check out the plumbing throughout the house. He was very knowledgeable and did a great job. The prices are very reasonable, and they show up on time. Very refreshing!

Overpriced. Condescending attitude. Wasted a week because of them. Ultimately glad I hired someone else who did the job sooner and for HALF the amount quoted by this company.

I was on Yelp today and realized I never left a review about this business last year when I had my experience and in light of some of the current lower reviews I felt it necessary to chime in. They have been in this valley for years and my mom has used them with success so when I had an issue at my new home, she suggested I call. They charged me to come out and look at the situation which is fine. They explained if I hired them I would not be billed that fee. Sounded pretty standard to me. Once they got here, the guy gave me such an outrageous quote to replace a kitchen faucet that it was almost laughable. I ended up paying them the fee to just LEAVE and hired a different company who was 1/3 the price and did a great job on short notice. We later found out that Valley Plumbing had been sold to investors, which explains why they suddenly have money for all those fancy commercials. That should have been my first clue to avoid them. We also heard that the plumbers were switched to commission which sadly would encourage a person to beef up the quote and really, can you blame these workers? They need to make a living. I feel bad for the employees that had to stay.

Our washer and sink were backing up when being used... We called Valley plumbing at 8am and Michael S was at our door by 12:15. Fixed the issues and showed me a few things we could do to help.

Michael was efficient, kind and knowledgeable.
