Very high quotation on a very small job. It seems that their minimum charge is reason.
Your concerns seem to be with Yelp, not me. Yelp asked for comments. They did not limit them to service. I'm sure you do very goid work and provide excellent service. Unfortunately we didn't get that far.

I called Urban due to their high ratings on Yelp and I had seen their trucks in the area. I was in a bit of a rush as it seemed my water heater was leaking, and the person I would typically use for this kind of thing retired recently.

When I called, Chris was polite. He shared that their price was a flat fee and was based on using water heaters that are superior and more expensive that those at the big box stores.

Pros:
When we spoke, Chris indicated that the job would take an hour and a half which it did. They arrived (two people) when they said they would. Price upon completion was as quoted so no surprises. Were polite and respectful during their time in my home.

Cons:
My older water heater had quite a bit of sediment built up in it which made it hard to drain. This resulted in quite a bit of spilled water in the area which they attempted to clean using materials I had on hand. There was quite a bit of water left behind when they departed...I didn't realize how much until I started cleaning after they left.

I texted Chris afterward and he called me to discuss. His position was that maybe ""1 in 200"" water heaters has the scaling issues mine did so it rarely happens, and ""no plumber"" carries towels or a means for cleaning on their truck. He conveyed that the time spent was ""twice as long"" as expected due to being on ""hands and knees"" cleaning with my towels but the ""flat fee"" for install was meant to account for that. They were not here for 3 hours which would have been twice the time quoted so maybe I misunderstood his point.

I mentioned that I was surprised they didn't have a wet-dry vac on their vehicle and he mentioned that they did but he forgot about it. I also mentioned that if they'd told me how much they were struggling, I would have shown them to a wet-dry vac that was in the same room as the water heater.

When I indicated that the experience wasn't what I expected he asked if the last water heater I had replaced had the scaling issue and water etc...When I shared that it did and that the plumber took some precautions, he apologized that I wasn't happy with the experience, offered to come back and clean up (which I told him wasn't necessary at that point) and we ended the call. While I don't think he agreed with my position, he was respectful and polite.

Overall, they delivered as promised, seem like good people, and are a little pricy. If the cost was lower, I'd have been fine with cleaning up, but I felt that for the price, I shouldn't have needed to.

I can't tell you how much we appreciate Urbans Plumbing. Chris is knowledgeable and professional. They get right to work, know exactly what needs to be done and get the job done right and usually in less time than they've estimated. They've helped us out several times with some bigger plumbing jobs and also a few smaller plumbing jobs too. We had a pipe burst behind our water softener. We called them to put new softener in, and then before they came to do the job our water heater started leaking too! Called them and Chris said ""No problem"". They came and installed the new softener along with a new water heater in the same morning. They've also been available to fix smaller things as well, like when we discovered the water line to the fridge had previously been installed wrong. He installed a new cold water shut-off and a separate shut-off to the fridge and was done in under an hour easy. When you own a home, knowing a good plumber is a must. If you know Urbans Plumbing, that will be one less worry you'll have as a homeowner.

Fantastic service! I would give Chris more stars if the ratings allowed it. Had a water flow issue affecting shower and taps. Two other plumbers couldn't diagnose the problem. Chris did and made himself available during the process. For a master plumber his rates are reasonable, he's persistent in solving the problem and is a nice guy. Definitely our go to guy for all plumbing needs. Thanks Chris.

Chris from Urban Plumbing came to give us a quote to fix our whirlpool tub. We had a different plumbing company come out twice, spending 3 plus hours to diagnose what was wrong and to tell us the whole tub would need to be replaced... It took Chris looking at the tub for a total of 20 minutes(10 of which was filling the tub enough to cause the problem we were experiencing) to find out what the actual problem was. It needed no parts to fix... Chris was extremely professional, punctual, and knowledgable. I highly recommend calling Urban Plumbing for your plumbing needs.

Chris Urban is a master plumber. We have used Chris Urban twice now. I can handle most things around the house and I have attempted most things such as installed faucets, installed water filtration systems, water to ice maker and installed new water softener but occasionally come across things I just don't want to do/attempt or can't figure out. First visit was for a leak that I wasn't able to get to and diagnose so my wife had him over based on Yelp reviews. Chris diagnosed the issue and quickly resolved it. The next visit was a few days ago for an issue with our water heater and backdrafting. WE Energy just installed a new gas meter and while checking for leaks in the house he said the water heater wasn't exhausting properly. We had our HVAC (recently installed a new furnace) come out to see if they did something to change the exhaust that may have caused this issue. Nope, recommend calling a plumber as water heater is not HVAC issue. I called Chris and immediately he rerouted to our house as he was on his way to another job to assess the issue. Wow, I couldn't ask for more! He looked at it all and said there isn't any issue that WE Energy didn't know what they were talking about. Chris could have sold me on X, Y or Z issue and I wouldn't have known. So honesty is a strong trait with Urban's Plumbing. He didn't charge for the visit and explained what could have been the issue. Thanks Chris! I wouldn't hesitate to call Chris to do any job now and most likely will instead of me stumbling through plumbing work that I have no idea! If you are looking for a plumber, give Urban's Plumbing a call. I have him booked marked.

After finding Chris' price to be easily less than other plumbers, he contacted me and very easily and quickly set up a date to replace our water heater. I had many questions, which Chris didn't mind, and he answered them all. Very professional , quality work. He even advised me that the prior water heater was improperly installed, and why. I will not hesitate to call Urban Plumbing again and would highly recommend Chris to anyone needing a good, honest plumber.
