Company Overview

Mission Statement: Our mission is to provide high-quality services to our clients through a commitment to integrity and honesty, emphasizing continuous progress towards excellence.

Founded in 1949, we began as a modest plumbing business with a simple idea: create a remarkable experience, and customers will come through referrals. We established an air conditioning service in 1960 to support our already successful plumbing business.

Over the years, we have navigated the ups and downs typical of local service businesses, always prioritizing humility, honesty, and excellent customer service. From our humble beginnings in the 50s, we have grown into a mid-sized mechanical and service organization with over 200 local team members. We often say, ""United was built on nights and weekends."" We operate 24/7 to ensure our customers' homes and businesses run smoothly.

Our employees show exceptional loyalty to United, boasting an average tenure of over 10 years. Our management team has risen through the ranks, ensuring that service quality remains high.

Thanks to our valued customers, United Mechanical has earned recognition as a premier mechanical contractor in the DFW area. David joined United in 1973 as an apprentice sheet metal mechanic right after graduating from Garland High School. He progressed from foreman to superintendent, and then to Project Manager in 1988, before becoming President in 1997. With over 42 years at United, David's deep expertise in HVAC, mechanical contracting, piping, and plumbing systems, along with his calm and strategic leadership, is invaluable.

Thanks to his leadership, United is well-regarded for its quality workmanship and safety across the industry. One of David's favorite sayings is that we aim to be ""not the biggest, but the best.""

In his role as President and CEO, David focuses on ""do what you say you're going to do,"" stressing the importance of caring for our employees and customers, and making sure United leads on every project we handle.

After purchasing our dream home, we found out there were SEVERE plumbing and air conditioning problems. Including BLACK mold and several broken pipes underground and in the walls! United Mechanical was our saving grace! Their teams worked for days, tirelessly to repair all the problems. We will forever be grateful they were able to repair everything so quickly and precisely so our family didn't have to be sick any more. All the guys were very polite and clear on the repairs they were making. They even wore booties every time they entered my home and tip toed when the baby was sleeping. I highly recommend them for you and your family!!

We have been using United Mechanical for several years. Jim is our guy. We had to call UM because our faucet suddenly lost pressure. They are fairly quick to come out. In this instance, Jim initially showed me the part I needed and told me how I could easily replace it myself. Of course as soon as I replaced it something else happened and he had to come back. He had to replace another part but it didn't correct the problem. Jim had one of the managers call us to set up another appointment-which again was timely. This time a little more work was required but they didn't kill us in the price.
United Mechanical has professional plumbers who won't stick you with hefty prices and show up in time. They don't run silly TV commercials to gain business, but clearly can generate enough customers by referral. Which is what I'm doing now. Use UM if you need help and ask for Jim. Good guy.

We have been very happy with our plumbing services and are looking forward to a long relationship with this company. They show up when they schedule, they respect our property and the price is fair.

Less than impressed with this company. We had three major jobs to get done in our house. They completed one job which was supposed to take two days and took over a week. The other two jobs were fulfilled with promises of someone going to "call me." Not only are they over priced, but they're extremely disorganized and clearly didn't value our business. Moving on.

I have used United Mechanical for 3-4 years always with good success. I called them to replace my AC system earlier this year and they spent the extra time explaining some deficiencies in my duct sizes. After correcting the problem and installing the new system my energy bills have dropped 22% on average since May. The AC system cools and heats the house much faster and keeps the room temperatures very consistent and comfortable.
The service team at United has always been on time, is very professional in explaining the problem and solution, and cleans up after they are finished. I have and will continue to recommend them to all my friends and family.

Exceptional service! I was in the market for a new heating and air conditioning company after finding out my previous company was no longer in business. After talking with several friends I decided to use United Mechanical as they came highly recommended. Now I see why. From the girls in the office who took my information to the tech, Clay, who came to repair my problem I was treated like had been their customer all along. My heater was back up and working within 24 hours from calling them. Since I was so impressed with their service I signed up for their maintenance program (I was on one with my old company) and was surprised to find out they did plumbing too?!? And I get a discount?!? Perfect! My garbage disposal went out last year and I hadn't had the money to have a plumber out so while the heater guy was here I went ahead and scheduled a plumber. I just knew when the plumber got here I'd be out of pocket $300-$500 for a new disposal. I was shocked when the plumber knocked at my door at 8:30am (as requested) and was finished by 9! He was able to repair my old disposal. He said it was fairly new and just had jammed. My bill was less than $100. Wish I would have made that call last year! Overall this company has provided me with the best service I've received in years. I had no where to turn when it came to plumbers as my old company only did a/c and heating. Thank you, United Mechanical.

I had a terrible experience with United Mechanical yesterday. Not only did the plumbers stay 3 hours before determining they couldn't fix our problem, my pain meds I had as a result of shoulder surgery disappeared while they were in my home.

I have used this company in the past (many years ago) to bail me out of another situation with a company that was trying to overbill and do unnecessary work. Although, UM rates are higher than many other companies, I always kept in the back of my mind, that United Mechanical was a company with honesty and integrity (until my latest experience).

We had a plumbing issue where water was backing up thru our house, rather than call a local plumber, I called United Mechanical thinking that if it was a serious issue, I could rely on them to handle it.
Step 1 - We called to make an appointment and explained the issue
Step 2 - Repairman arrived on time. He says to me -- "so you need your main line cleared?"...I said "I don't know", let me explain the symptoms, he replied back.....yeah, its probably your main line that is backed up (he never came into the house to see if it is anything more). It took no more than 15 minutes from the time that they arrived to clear the problem. I tried to talk to them about another issue that we were having in the house and they did not seem willing to come in and look at it (so if it is a problem, I am going to have to call again and pay when I've already paid for service call and time).
Step 3 - they hop back in their truck and sit for close to 15 minutes before they leave. I thought it was odd, so I looked at my paperwork and they billed extra time that they sat and waited (I imagine they have GPS trackers). I was somewhat annoyed by this, but glad that my problem was resolved $150 later. They could have cleaned up the mess that they left behind instead of sitting and billing in the truck.

Next, I have an AC repairman come out for another issue, and I mentioned that I just had a plumber out -- so I told him what was going on. He looked at which line it was, and said to me..."that's the city line to the house -- you know you could have called the city and they would have come out and cleared it for free?" I thought "no way"....so sure enough, I checked it out, and that is the case. I guess this is standard with most cities. Now I have a problem with the integrity of United Mechanical -- they had 2 opportunities to pass along this information and they didn't....when I called in for service, and when the repairman arrived.

I had my husband call them and relay our disappointment. I cannot dispute that they did the work; it is an integrity issue that they would not pass along the info. that if it was the city line, the city is responsible....they should have said it, and we could have made the choice to call the city first, and if it wasn't that, we could have called United Mechanical out to do the repair.
The rep for United Mechanical said that they didn't know the city would be responsible, therefore that is why they didn't tell us. And, as far as billing the extra time, the rep said they were probably doing paperwork -- which is a joke since they already gave me my paperwork at 1:30, and left close to 1:45.
Needless to say, this leaves a bad taste in my mouth, and I will not recommend United Mechanical nor use them in the future. Integrity and customer service is key, and they do not display this in their actions or response. Done...time to find a new company to use in the future!
