Beware of Unique Air! We live in Florida and the weather is hot and the air is always running. We noticed that the central air had a slow leak. We called Unique Air and a tech was sent to our home. Let me metion that the service call was suppose to be 89.00. The tech looked at our air conditioner and said that the coils needed to be cleaned and it would be an additional 150.00. In addition, he stated that our unit was in poor condition. So, we stupidly paid him the extra 150.00 thinking that this would solve the leaking. That night the air conditioner started to leak. I called Unique Air to have another tech come out to look at our unit. The tech came out the next day and he stated that our coils needed to be cleaned and it would be 450.00. This time we decided to get a second opinion. We called Badger Bob in Sarasota to look at our leaking before we forked out the 450.00. The owner came out to look at the unit. He said the coils are dirty but can be pressured wash and there was a clog in the piping. Badger Bob only charged us 120.00 to power wash our coils and clear the clog. In addition, the tech told us that our coils were never cleaned and that our unit is in good shape. The leak is gone and our air conditioner is working perfect! I try to get our money back and spoke to Karen at Unique Air. I told her that our coils were never cleaned and that I would like to have a refund of the 150.00. She said that is not possible because we signed the paper work to have the coils cleaned, but I mentioned to her that the coils were never cleaned...... My recommendation is to call Badger Bob! Great Service and honest! STAY AWAY FROM UNIQUE AIR!

We woke up Sunday morning, January 8th to a very cold house, no heat. My 81 year old mother in-law lives with us and has dementia and heat is important. So Monday morning I called Unique Service at 8:42 AM to schedule a repair. They have been doing the bi annual maintenance on my 3 year old Trane A/C system and they offer a discount. I was able to get a 10 AM to 2 PM appointment for Monday. I was okay with that. I just ask for a 45 min to an hour notice since I was in Sarasota working and it would take me that long to get home. I got a call at 10:10 AM that a tech was on the way and about 15 minutes away. Blair was very nice and jumped right into diagnosing the system. Upon talking I found out he only been out of school for three years and did not have a lot of experience. Long story short at about 2 that afternoon he closed up the system and said they would have to send """"a senior tech"""" out tomorrow. Blair said the reversing valve was bad probably bad, but the senior tech would have to confirm that That was okay since my wife was going to be home. Tuesday morning they called at 10:37 and said the techs were on the way. They did not arrive until after 12:30. After some more work they told my wife they had to order more parts and would be back. Really?? I don't understand and neither did my wife. Since the techs had already left my house I called the office (1:32 PM) and ask to speak with a manager in an effort to find out what was happening with the repair. I was not able to get past the girl that answered the phone. At 2:11 PM on Tuesday Blair called me and explained that his diagnosis was wrong and that they would have the correct parts and come Wednesday to complete the repair. I explained to him there would be no one home that could let them in on Wednesday and to please schedule it for Friday. Wednesday morning my phone rang and it was Unique telling me a tech was on the way to my house. I ask again that they not come until Friday and to change the appointment to Friday morning so I could be there. Thursday morning a tech showed up at my house (no call this time) talked with my mother in-law and started working on the system. When I found out they were here I called Unique explaining the issue with the dementia and asked again to talk to a manager. I was put on hold for about 5 minutes so I hung up and called my house. I got Tony on the phone and ask him to pack up and leave. I again called Unique offices and after being on hold for over 5 minutes I got thorough to another girl. I again explained the issue with the mother in-law and that I wanted to talk with a manager. After another lengthy hold she came back and told me she had spoken with two managers and one would one would call me back later today. Well today is over and I have not heard back from Unique Services. Lets see what tomorrow holds.

Unique called me last week and said they would come Friday Afternoon last week but never showed or even called! I was shocked at such poor service after offering to provide heavily discounted system check for $9.00. Nothing happened at all. Not acceptable. I used them before but would never again. Jim D.

After a real good sales job it all went terribly wrong. We were promised an easy and fast install, it took 15 hours in a 580sq ft house. Really guys!!! At 12:00am we were cleaning up and trying to get to bed so we could work at 5:30am. We Took out a perfectly good working unit (15 yrs old) to get a unit twice size and cost me more per month on my electric bill. Do not believe what you hear on the radio. This company if a fraud and does not follow through. We were told they would be back in a couple days to relocate the thermostat and install the correct heating element, none of this has happened weeks later. Find another contractor. Save $2000 and save being lied to. I regret hiring Unique!!

Buyer Beware!!! This is a SALES company not a repair company. I requested a tech to come out to look at my AC unit and all he wanted to do was to SELL me on a replacement for $4500. He listed that I would need to pay the trip charge of $90, the contactor for $212, wanted to charge me $110 to repair wiring and $100 for the labor. Talk about price gouging. I also talked to the Customer Service Manager and the offer to give me 10% off the total repair. I told her I would just go buy the part and repair it myself. FYI I paid less than $25 for everything need to fix it. With some help from my brother and his boss I was able to repair the AC unit myself!!!

I have been ripped off by these people. I requested a technician to disconnect and reconnect my A/C unit so that my excavator could move my A/C unit cut down and remove a tree, the root structure of which, had tipped up my A/C unit. When the technician arrived he informed me that the cost of service would be $1600.00. I informed him that the charge for the service was outrageous. He offered to call his boss. I spoke to his boss directly and could get no satisfaction. While he did not dispute my work estimate of 2-3 hours, he insisted that the cost would be $1600. I told him I would not pay for that service and asked the service rep to leave. Fortunately my excavator hired a A/C tech to subcontract to him and the unit was disconnected, the excavator moved the A/C unit and the slab, upon which, it rested, he removed the tree and root structure, replaced the slab and A/C unit, and had the A/C reconnected, for a grand total of $1000. Then Unique had the nerve to charge my $89.00 for a service call. If the standard charge for a disconnect-reconnect was $1600.00, they didn't need to send someone out to tell me that, they could have informed me when I first placed the order. I'll never do business with these guys again.

Good service for sure but you're certainly going to pay TOP dollar for it. Compared to other most area HVAC companies, they're 40% higher. Communication is key in any business, and theirs was fair at best. I couldn't get a call back on a warranty item and what was (or wasn't) covered. My almost 4 year old motor relay was apparently bad, so they decided to replace the entire motor. It's a modular system, so it was """"plug & play."""" My $700+ payment was quickly collected for a 20 minute service call. The technician compared his services to a DENTIST. Painful, but short. Well, show me your advanced degree and I haven't heard my dentist compare himself to an HVAC guy lately (or ever). They (Unique) took over for another regional HVAC company out of Ft Myers, FL that no longer services our area (that's another YELP story) for HOME DEPOT installations. The Rheem system was a HD TOP recommendation for reliability anyway. Go figure. When you're a small company, you're customer focused and seek to appease the client to grow your business. As they've grown to $30MM+ and have been acquired a couple of times, the new owners (understandably) seek an ROI. That said, they have become numbers focused and the techs are quota driven, while the customer satisfaction has sharply declined. This means, I'm a number to them and a means to reach THEIR goal, not mine. It's a shame. Yes, it's a business, but there's a tipping point on a customers ability to stomach being force fed huge and unreasonable service fees. I'd feel better about paying my dentist coming over to service the system anyway. He wasn't as pompass.

I had a service contract with ARS for years and had them install a new air handler/compressor and it is still under warranty. I am a """"snowbird"""" and can only use the service calls from January through May normally. Days after getting a reminder email to schedule maintenance my neighbor notified me that the unit was not running correctly and I called to have the unit checked on Sept. 15, after the hurricane and when the streets were cleared. """"JT (319890)"""" indicated the blower motor module needed to be replaced and the part would have to be ordered. Several calls to Unique to find out when the repair would be made. First, they had to call purchasing to try to get a status; a call back was promised. A day or so a follow-up was useless when the service agent tried and could not reach purchasing and said they would have to send them an EMAIL. This company does not work well together. On Sept. 22, 2017, the now module was installed and installation took less than an hour. The total bill was $1,199.00 with $611.00 covered by warranty (one hour!). The part cost $588.00 and I was billed $558.60. I complained and Melody told me that this was the """"book rate"""" for this repair. A later explanation was that travel time was part of the four hours. Unique's Naples office is twenty minutes away! On Oct. 30, after my monthly unit check by my neighbor, he said the fan was constantly running even though the thermostat was set at 78 and the outside temperature was in the 60's. Wayne (309427) came in, noticed the setting was """"on"""" and should have been set to """"automatic"""" and left after making some checks outside. I was billed $89.00 for their techs mistakenly leaving the switch """"on"""". I feel that this company did some price gouging after the hurricane. The flat rate charge had no direct relation to the actual time spent. It took one week to get the part and have it installed. Other neighbors had the same part installed in less than 48 hours by other companies. I am considering filing a complaint with the state's Attorney General about the possible gouging, but I will have to pay the charges because of the threat of """"going to collection"""".
