I received a check for $200 in the mail today from U.S. Plumbing and Rooter.

My hot water heater of 12 years died in November of 2022. AHS (American Home Shield) my home warranty company, dispatched U.S. Plumbing and Rooter, a local business from Antioch, CA.

I was informed by AHS at the start that there'd be some "" uncovered"" expenses that I'd need to pay directly to the plumbing company, so I demanded a complete quote of the ""uncovered"" items. Amongst other things not covered by AHS that totaled over $1,100, they charged me $200 for a city permit and $85 for a flimsy plastic drip pan on the hot water heater (replacing the perfectly good aluminum pan).

To make a long story shorter, two weeks after the job had been completed a permit still hadn't been pulled from the Building Code division of Antioch. A permit is supposed to be paid for, pulled and an inspector on site to sign off on the permit the same day the work is completed. This did NOT happen, however. So, two weeks go by and I requested to see a copy of the $200 permit I had paid for. After phoning the local city office to inquire, it was determined that a permit had NOT been pulled nor signed off properly. (In years past, I had worked for the Public Works Department of the City of Benicia and KNEW the codes and the proper way business's were supposed to conduct themselves lawfully).

My next step was to file a complaint with the appropriate State of California office, which I did. In that complaint I stated that I wanted my $200 refunded as the company was unprofessional and not adhering to city procedures and that, by doing so, had put the safety of myself and my family in jeopardy as well as jeopardizing my home. (A gas leak is NOTHING to mess around with.) Also that I was a senior citizen who was apparently being taken advantage of financially.

Upon completion of the job, I asked the lead technician about the duration of the warranty on the new unit. (He told me 10 years). However, when registering the new unit online, I discovered that there was only a six year warranty based upon the serial code and model number. So, you see, I wasn't given any options, was I?

THEN, I discovered that these lazy s.o.b.s (who couldn't speak ANY English) also couldn't be bothered to replace the heavy concrete cover at the curb when they had shut the water off! That task was left to me, the 65 year old homeowner with a bad back. Totally unprofessional!

On top of it all, this company tried to impose a 3% surcharge on the credit card transaction! No mention was made of this additional charge in the quote they had provided me! (silent scream).

But, I'm 100% certain that the State of California was behind the $200 refund check I received today. In the end, you have to do some very careful checking into who you hire and let onto your property. Should the hot water heater die again in the future, I'll be my own best advocate and DEMAND that the home warranty company I do business with send out a company of MY choosing!

I'm just wondering how many others have been taken advantage of financially by this ""joke"" of a company.

COMPLETE waste of time.
Plumbers came out to fix a leaking pipe under the house in the crawl space. There were specific instructions to bring equipment and they brought nothing . They looked under the house and simply said they weren't going to step in the dirty mud.
They rescheduled a week later and on the rescheduled appointment no one shows up.
Unprofessional, lazy, and never answered any phone calls .
Back of truck was like a hoarders car.

Don't go to US plumbing unless you want them to rip up your front lawn and break the clean water, supply line and then not be accountable for the action and make up an excuse and then dig a trench and leave the trench open without telling you and the trench fills up with water and you fall in it because you think maybe you can turn the water off because They never said that they broke the main waterline.

Not reliable! Never showed up on appointment time. Made the customer wait the whole entire day! Lied in the app that the plumber started working but he was not even in the property! Will never recommend this company! Awful customer service!

1. Installed a water heater that doesn't work
2. Sent a technician who said the water heater needs a new part. He said they would order the part to my address and then come to install it.
3. A week later, no update from them. I called every day and got voicemail.
4. Today, finally someone answered and told me I need to call the warranty number and that US Plumbing will not help repair the broken water heater that they dropped off.

This is a sham provider. They should have their license revoked! This ""licensed"" plumbing service could not replace a fill valve and a flapper in a toilet... literally. A simple 20 minute DIY job was beyond the scope of what they could do. I waited 1 week for a visit and was told it would take another week before they could fix it.
I went to the Home Depot and did it myself in 20 minutes! UNBELIEVABLE! Their scheduling and dispatch secretary also couldn't be bothered doing anything but their nails... no management oversight or accountability
The company is only bonded for $15,000... so think again if you value your property with this low skilled outfit

Do yourself a favor and move away to another provider. This company is unreliable. They don't pick up the phone and never return a call. I'm stuck with a water leak problem and no one to talk to. Just doesn't worth any amount of money in the world to work with such bad contractors.

PS - their plumbers may actually be nice and professional, but there's no way getting to them.

They were on time, professional, diagnosed the problem quickly and took care of it. Couldn't ask for more. Highly recommend. Used through First American and it was still a great experience!

This company is all about the Benjamin. Hired them through our insurance because of a leak. we can't see but definitely hear the leak coming from a wall of the restroom downstairs. They hired a guy that told us the leak was coming from under the kitchen sink come to find out later that it was I pipe under the slab and it was where we initially heard it. We find out because we hired a company that knows what they're doing. With that before all of this we wanted to get the report that the leak detector has submitted to them but guess what? Never send us a copy. They ans. At first when they think they are getting us to do a whole house Re piping because of a leak under the slab they said it is highly recommended that we do a re pipe when our house is build in 94 and the build was solid of coarse nothing is perfect. But to insists and ghost us after we said no? You be the judge.

I was not happy with this company. I would not recommend them. This company was sent by my home warranty company, AHS, whom I am also not happy with. Very poor communication. Fixed the main issue, but did not fix any of the other issues that were brought up, claiming all the other things were normal. I think they just didn't want to do the work, maybe because the home warranty company doesn't pay them enough for the work? They did fix the water heater, but refused to do anything else. Their technician said something about another company would come to do the other work.... Never heard from them or any other company since then. Did not seem very professional.
