I would like to take this opportunity to express a complaint about this company. I entered into an agreement with Dan to perform certain remodeling/construction services at my home. They failed to complete the job as agreed on time or on budget. In good faith, I advanced sums of money to Dan for supplies and labor which he never completed. He worked limited hours and had numerous ""NO SHOWS"". I had to find replacement contractors to finish the job which cost me double since I had advanced monies to Dan.

Under NO CIRCUMSTANCE would I recommend this company and/or individual. They are unreliable and dishonest!

I hired Dan at Total Handyman to fix the fence at my rental house. He started, but did not finish the job. After multiple cancellations I had to call another handyman. I won't use his services again. I should have listened to the negative reviews. Beware.

Great experience with Dan and his team. Prior to having my house painted, I needed to have some T1-11 siding replaced in some tricky areas (around windows, up high and such). Dan quoted a fair price and we scheduled the work. The job proved to be a bit more challenging in complexity - and they muscled through it, delivering excellent results. I decided to have the team back to complete another project too. Great bunch of guys that work hard and deliver great results. They are very professional and showed respect for our home as they worked. Very highly recommended.

Hired Total Handyman to help with a mudroom remodel in January 2015. The crew installed the washer incorrectly, causing a slow leak that was not discovered until December 2015. Upon inspection both the washer and dryer were installed incorrectly, causing flooding and a fire hazard with wire splicing. We are now missing a wall, a ceiling in the basement, and have no useable washer or dryer (which is really great timing with a toddler who is projectile vomiting). No effort on TH's part to remedy the situation. Remediation will cost over $5K not including the possibility of having to purchase brand new washer and dryer ($4K).

We had a fence that needed repaired. Dan was very knowledgable about what needed to be done and he gave us the best estimate.

He came the next day with his crew. They were punctual, polite to our family and pets, tidy, finished early, and the estimate was on point! We are so happy with the quality of their work.

I highly recommend Total Handyman as an honest and professional company!

DO NOT USE THIS MAN. I called Dan after my front door got broken in to - on the phone he was nice and seemed responsive, scheduling me in last minute for later in the afternoon. I left work early to be back to my place, Dan was 2 HOURS LATE and DIDN'T BOTHER TO CALL TO LET ME KNOW. He then quoted me at $200 - materials would cost $12, the rest was ""for his time"". He said didn't have time to fix it same day, at was totally booked all day Saturday, so he scheduled to come back 2 days later, Sunday, 10am. Sunday at 11am, I still hadn't heard from him, so I called and he said he had a fence job that ran late the previous day that he needed to finish up this morning and it would be another 2 hours at least til he could make it to my house. Finally, at 1pm, he called and said he be there at 2pm. Sure enough, he gets here at 2, the whole job took about 1 hour, and yet he wasted over 6 hours of my time. IF I AM ""PAYING FOR YOUR TIME"", YOU BETTER RESPECT MINE.

He didn't even have all the right tools - forgot clamps, yet he knew he'd be doing woodwork. Odd to me. His assistant Steve was more knowledgable than Dan himself, he knew a place where we could have actually replaced the door, also was more observant, noticed that Dan was using the wrong ratio of hardener to epoxy.... pretty strange. He said he had a ""high end epoxy"" but when they went to use that, it didn't hold at all and ended up having to make an additional trip to the hardware store. Pretty ridiculous.

Moral of the story: Unless you really love WAITING AROUND FOR SOMEONE who CANNOT manage their schedule and takes on jobs he doesn't have the capacity to take on, then do yourself a huge favor and AVOID this company at all costs. And the finished job was only ""OK"", really not the greatest work especially for how long it took to get done and costing me $140.

I am writing this review because, because of all the good reviews I have seen against this company. I was charged $12,000 for a remodel of my garage to an office. The company did not show up everyday to get my work done by August as promised. The doors were hung crooked, leak terribly the ceiling has a crack across the entire room. He did not pay his sub-contractors for work he hired them to do, I paid them. He has not come back to finish or fix what they did to date. I would not recommend this company no matter what they say. Don't believe all these good reviews, they got here due to the money he took from the rest of us. BEWARE!!!

Today we had a dog door installed by Dan and his assistant Mike. Just to clarify, we had to call Dan after another company who specializes in dog door installations said the project was too extensive and complicated for them. It was through a siding wall under a window and it wasn't a kit door. Dan and Mike showed up with all the right tools, worked diligently and were knowledgeable and very friendly. They framed out the door to match the window surround and were as concerned about the final look as we were, dog doors can look pretty terrible. This one looks fantastic, we are very pleased.. and so is our dog who is bounding in and out without a problem. Well done!

Pros: Dan does quality work and is definitely trustworthy. I hired him for a project in my home and he did a great job, the work has stood up well over time. Additionally, his rates are very reasonable compared to most and he is able to complete a variety of tasks, meaning he is more flexible than most. He is also very friendly and personable.

Cons: Unfortunately, I do agree with other reviewers that he may be taking on too much or has an inability to manage his schedule. The first job I hired him for, he called me after our set appointment time and rescheduled to the next day. The next day he arrived late and finished the job much later than anticipated. More recently, I have called Dan and left voicemails on 3 different occasions over the course of 2 weeks for a new job and he has never returned my phone calls. Guess that's his way of telling me to move on to someone new, which is what I am going to do. It is a shame though, because Dan does do great work, but I don't have weeks to wait for a return phone call.

Their work is average. They get the job done, but dealing with them is a nightmare. They were never on time. Sometimes they would call to let us know they would be late, other times they wouldn't. We had one job they didn't even show up for and they couldn't even pick up the phone to let us know. Then when we called to inquire, we were lied to about what happened. Getting a receipt is like pulling teeth. I still have not received one for their last job after several attempts. I would not recommend them as they are very unprofessional.
