I am writing this review because, because of all the good reviews I have seen against this company. I was charged $12,000 for a remodel of my garage to an office. The company did not show up everyday to get my work done by August as promised. The doors were hung crooked, leak terribly the ceiling has a crack across the entire room. He did not pay his sub-contractors for work he hired them to do, I paid them. He has not come back to finish or fix what they did to date. I would not recommend this company no matter what they say. Don't believe all these good reviews, they got here due to the money he took from the rest of us. BEWARE!!!

Today we had a dog door installed by Dan and his assistant Mike. Just to clarify, we had to call Dan after another company who specializes in dog door installations said the project was too extensive and complicated for them. It was through a siding wall under a window and it wasn't a kit door. Dan and Mike showed up with all the right tools, worked diligently and were knowledgeable and very friendly. They framed out the door to match the window surround and were as concerned about the final look as we were, dog doors can look pretty terrible. This one looks fantastic, we are very pleased.. and so is our dog who is bounding in and out without a problem. Well done!

Pros: Dan does quality work and is definitely trustworthy. I hired him for a project in my home and he did a great job, the work has stood up well over time. Additionally, his rates are very reasonable compared to most and he is able to complete a variety of tasks, meaning he is more flexible than most. He is also very friendly and personable.

Cons: Unfortunately, I do agree with other reviewers that he may be taking on too much or has an inability to manage his schedule. The first job I hired him for, he called me after our set appointment time and rescheduled to the next day. The next day he arrived late and finished the job much later than anticipated. More recently, I have called Dan and left voicemails on 3 different occasions over the course of 2 weeks for a new job and he has never returned my phone calls. Guess that's his way of telling me to move on to someone new, which is what I am going to do. It is a shame though, because Dan does do great work, but I don't have weeks to wait for a return phone call.

Their work is average. They get the job done, but dealing with them is a nightmare. They were never on time. Sometimes they would call to let us know they would be late, other times they wouldn't. We had one job they didn't even show up for and they couldn't even pick up the phone to let us know. Then when we called to inquire, we were lied to about what happened. Getting a receipt is like pulling teeth. I still have not received one for their last job after several attempts. I would not recommend them as they are very unprofessional.

We hired Dan to install ceiling fans when another handyman (Handyman in Denver) flaked on us. Dan squeezed us in on a Saturday afternoon, despite having an impacted schedule. At the end of the day, with a huge rainstorm, it was too late for his team to work, but he stopped by to ask if he could come in the morning the next day. His team showed up bright and early on a Sunday morning. Installed two ceiling fans quickly. Everyone was friendly and efficient, and Dan knocked off $40 for the missed appointment. Even without the discount, Total Handyman was $40 cheaper than the other quotes I had received.
We passed Dan's contact info to our landlord because they were so great.

I do not recommend using this handyman service. Do not be fooled by the positive reviews, as he is very unprofessional and does not follow through on commitments.

I had called Steve to hang a few paintings, originally, we were scheduled for the 9 AM on 25th of June. However, after a few phone calls with Steve, he informed me that he needed to finish a few things at a job from the other day and was going to be 2 hours late. Eventually, 11:40 AM rolled around and he called to inform me he just bought the required hardware but that he had an emergency call. I was understanding and we agreed to reschedule to 9 AM on the 2nd of July. During that conversation, I was promised that I would be the first thing he attended to on the 2nd.

On the 2nd, I received no form of communication from Steve, and only when I called him at 9:30 AM was I told that he would call me back. at 9:40 AM I received a phone call from him telling me he was on his way. However, by then I had rescheduled with another service.

In total, I spent a total of about 4 hours waiting around for him over 2 days, and if you have that kind of time by all means hire him.

I am writing this review because appointments (at least 20 NO-SHOWS since Oct. 2012), countless pleadings, cancellation of my Christmas trip to see my 94- year-old mother, and more unfulfilled promises than I could describe - nothing has yet worked to get Dan to finish my project. The most frequent excuse, which boggles my mind, is that he has appontments to give new bids or do other new business. I've already paid for mine but this wonderful, charming man just doesn't show up when he promises - over and over and . . . I'm sure he can do wonderful job on any 1/2- day project you have, but meanwhile he's leaving my big one unfinished since getting my final payment on 12/23/2012. This talented man is a victim of his own success, unable to manage all his commitments.

Most reviews heretofore have been been positive, and most are almost a year old. Pls look in the "" filtered reviews"" for someone else with an almost identical experience as mine, dated 1/2013. Please, Dan, don't self- destruct!

I chose Dan through Yelp and was thrilled that he lived up to the glowing reviews on the site. We scheduled a time on a day that turned out to include a major winter storm, and he called to say he would be a little late. What a breath of fresh air to find that sort of conscientiousness! His work was excellent and the price was very reasonable. I will be calling Total Handyman again whenever we need work done.

Dan was awesome! We were in a time crunch and he and his team were able to to get everything we needed done ahead of schedule. They are very fast, clean, friendly and thorough. You can tell he is doing what he loves for a living from the care he puts into his work. I could not have been happier with the speed and quality of the work he did for us. Dan makes sure that you are absolutely happy with the work he has done before he collects a dime for you. He also stays true to his estimate and does not charge you for the all the extra stuff he does to go above and beyond. He completely installed an overhead light in our garage, that was unusable before, for free. I could not recommend him more. These reviews proved to be true, so glad we used Dan the Total Handyman!
