So - I've not had bad things to say about these people until now. I needed my basement bathroom pump replaced. They sent me a quote including to replace a seal/wax ring on the toilet next to the access panel where the pump was located. It was for $571.00 just to take it off and replace the wax ring which is ridiculous for a toilet...I could buy a whole new one for way less money including the wax ring. Bad enough they charged me over $2200 to do just the pump replacement, the part being the majority of the cost. When I looked up the part, they charged me more than double the cost of the pump at Home Depot. Not sure who they are buying their parts from but they are either getting ripped off, or are ripping off the Comsumer by more than doubling the price of the parts. If you want to make a profit, be honest and put it in labor or profit, not doubling or tripling the price of the item you are replacing.

Anyway. I told them not to do the toilet, that my BF could do that. So they come out to replace the pump and cut my entire wall out to get to the pump, instead of going through the access panel area. They NEVER said they had to do this, nor did they say the toilet had to be removed in order to get to the pump, they just cut a 6 foot tall by about 2 feet wide hole in my drywall to get to it.

Now, I am not at home, I am up north so my son was handling things for me down there and he had to go to work, so his best friend went to my house so they could get in and do the work. He was not aware they shouldn't be doing this and was apparently told by the technician that I ok'd this... which I DID NOT! nor was it written anywhere or told to anyone this would be done...

Now I have a great big hole in my wall that they are not going to anything about! We have called the ""manager"" and he basically told my son...Oh well... they needed to get in there and since no one took out the toilet, they cut the wall....

I will NEVER EVER use J Mills anymore. I have had them do a lot at my house in the past... but no more...

This was our second experience with J. Mills Plumbing & water treatment company based in Howell MI. Matt was the plumber that provided service to us. From beginning to end of service (calling to set up an appointment to end of service clean-up), there was professionalism, review of issue found, plan of fixing/correcting the issue and review of those costs. We also discussed that if anything outside of our plan arose, we would have another conversation and review the situation together, with additional options presented. This included a revisit of what work had been completed, as well as things to look for. Business cards were provided with diection to call the office if we had any questions or concerns. We will continue to utilize J. Mills Plumbing in Howell MI for any of our plumbing needs as well as recommend then to others. Thank you for such a wonderful experience, Matt! $544 for hot water tank element. Will never use them again. There bill only shows the price not a break down of cost for call labor and parts.

This company scammed me and ripped me off. They replaced my garbage disposal unit at a cost of $589! (The unit sells for $114 on the home depot website) What really is infuriating is they neglected to inform me that the unit they replaced was a smaller unit than they took out! ( 1/2 HP vs a 3/4 HP)
I phoned them, once I realized what had occurred, and asked them to either come back and put the same size unit in I previously had, or reimburse me some of the money. They will do neither.

Let me just start this review by saying that I have never had a great experience with any plumbing company in the past. I was expecting a lot of the same when I hired J Mills to replace a leaking ball valve leading to my sprinkler system this spring.

The communication was great from the start and they arrived on time the day of the repair.

There was a hiccup during the repair process and Joe (the owner) went WAY above and beyond to remedy the situation. He has now earned a loyal customer out of me.

Joe runs this company like it should be run, with honesty and integrity. I would recommend this company to anyone and everyone.

Had them come out for a fluctuating water pressure. They came to the conclusion that it was my pressure tank. I had them put it in 4 years ago so it was under warranty. Still cost me $750 for labor under warranty to put in a new one. WOW. They said the old one was no longer available so they tried to get me to pay the $197 difference between the old tank and new one. I voiced my opinion and they did cover the difference. Fast forward 2 days and the problem is still not fixed. Water is still fluctuating and I'm out $750. Was it the tank really?

J Mills Plumbing is always outstanding. No matter who comes to our house, we know that they'll be nothing but a skilled & high-quality plumber. We've been relying on J Mills for several years, and they've always been 100% professional. Plus, everybody that works there is a truly nice person. We wouldn't trust a plumbing job -- no matter how big or how small -- to anybody else. J Mills is simply THE best.

I have never been more disappointed in JMills Plumbing company, we scheduled this company back on March 15th and they took our deposit check on March 29, 2021 for our new build job, 6 days before starting our job the owner Joe called and cancelled our job and left us with no plumber!! Please beware!!! This is absolutely poor business. Do not work with these people!! I would never recommend this place, ever!!!
