Called Tango Plumbing and a very nice lady answered. Explained the type of work we were looking for and were told someone would call back. Waited several days without a call back. We called them back and spoke to the same very nice lady who profusely apologized and again promised a call back. Nothing. Never ever heard from them, so we contacted another local plumber who showed up the next day and did a great job. Maybe Tango thought the job was too small for them, but at least calling back as a courtesy would have been nice. As it turns out, this would have been an ""audition"" for Tango as we subsequently decided to do a remodel project involving extensive plumbing. I can't imagine how Tango would have completed the job. But glad we found out what they were all about before engaging in a large-scale project. Thought they would be a ""stand-up"" type business with all their advertising I see, but oh well.

The kitchen sink backed up and leaked in the least accessible place in the cabinets/wall. We called, they responded in minutes, and showed up as agreed shortly thereafter and got to it. Not only did the man fix the situation, he was neat and left no debris. Happy wife, happy life.
Quality job and service. Well done TANGO.

I wish I'd read some of these reviews before I had anything to do with Mark Tango Plumbing. He charged me $595 to put a patch on an old heating pipe that had sprung a pinhole leak. The part for the patch is $15. His two employees were at my home and on the job for 1 hour and 40 minutes. The bill was totally outrageous.

When I contested it, speaking to Mark Tango by phone (It took 2 days to finally get him on the phone) and asked for an itemized bill, Mark Tango told me his hourly rate was $190! And he charged for travel time but not, he said, for the two individuals labor since it was a job for one individual. How generous!

He refused to give me an itemized bill, saying he told me the reason for the price, and he continually interrupted me throughout the conversation - literally would not let me finish a sentence - in order to give me a long sob story about the overhead costs of running a small business and that he'd only see about $60 profit from my 595 dollars and that it goes to pay for toilet paper in the office etc. Oh cry me a river!!!

Do not hire this ""small business"". You will be shafted like I was. The following is the longer story of how I came to be manipulated by Mark Tango Plumbing into allowing his employees into my house for this small job my trusted plumber of 30 years could have easily done for $150. Read on, if you care to know.

Just before Christmas, the pipe sprang a leak on a Sunday, so I needed an emergency plumber. I had to turn off the boiler until it could be fixed. Unfortunately Tango ended up being the one I called. He said he was really busy, and after I sent pictures, he told me I could fix it myself and told me how. He was right. I fixed it myself. I appreciated him saving me the emergency call cost and showing me how to take care of the problem myself, so he incurred my trust.

I decided then, to ask him for an estimate on the replacement of all the old pipes in my basement leading to my radiators. My trusted plumber of 30 years did not do that kind of work anymore. So Mark came out to the house and took a look and said he would be possible to do in stages so that I could still have heat through the winter. After an extended wait, he sent me one estimate by email that was 10,500, and one by text that was 11,000. Rather than get many estimates, I asked my trusted plumber of 30 years to look it over and he felt that it was fair enough. I figured the email estimate sent from the office would be the final fee.

Then, I gave the job some thought and I texted Mark that I'd rather do all the pipes in the spring and have him just replace the leaky pipe as soon as possible because I did not know how long my patch job was going to hold. To get Mark by text or by phone was extremely difficult and though he said he'd fix the leak by replacing the pipe right after Christmas it took numerous texts for me to finally get him to schedule me in. I also asked how long the heat would be off since I had painters in the house doing some work. It took him a long time to answer and finally the answer was 1 hour. This seemed odd to me, since it seemed to me that replacing a section of pipe was a pretty big job and it would take much longer than an hour, but I'm not a plumber, so I said, good.

The date his brother and an employee showed up at my door to do the job I had intended them to do, replace the pipe, was January 26th. Long after Christmas. I was irritated by this, and how hard it had been to reach Tango, but I stuck with him through the wait because his estimate on the big job, replacing all the pipes with copper and attaching them to 8 other pipes leading to my radiators, appeared to be fair, and he had originally told me how to fix the leak myself, saving me money on that infamous Sunday.

But here's where things got shady. His brother, finally on my doorstep to do the job I expected - the replacement of the leaky pipe section - said they were not going to replace the pipe, they were going to patch it. He said they'd replace it with the others in the spring and assured me the patch they'd use would hold. Here's where I should have said no, or at least asked how much it would cost. But since I'd worried for a month that my putty and tape patch would not hold and they were finally there, I agreed. It never crossed my mind that they would charge more than $80 and hour for labor. Certainly not $190 an hour! Then the next shady thing that happened was that Mark's brother, Dominic, asked if there was a bulkhead they could use to bring down equipment. I thought, what kind of large equipment would they need to patch a tiny pinhole in a pipe? I do not have a bulkhead. I said they could walk down the stairs. So they walked down the stairs and I saw no large piece of equipment go down those stairs with them. I can only think that this was some kind of ruse, to make me believe this was a complicated job! Do not Tango with Tango. You will be screwed.

Tango plumbing was able to get a plumber to stop by within a few hours of my call. Steve was able to look over my current toilet plumbing set up and saw that it was originally installed incorrectly over the tile. He fixed the issue and verified it was working without any leaks. He also showed me the O-ring issue which looked really old, worn. I will hire this company for my future plumbing needs.

I contacted the company to get an estimate on multiple repairs that I needed to have done around the house. I asked what their hourly rate is and was told they don't charge an hourly rate, they only charge by the job. For me, I am looking for a plumber (or any service provider for that matter) to be transparent about their prices. In any plumbing job, there is a cost for labor and a cost for parts, this company does not want to provide prospective customers with a view into the labor cost so I will take my business to a plumber that does...In fact, I already found 2 other plumbers on Yelp who were very upfront with their hourly rate so I will go with one of them instead.

I rarely write reviews about businesses but then I've rarely had a worse experience with a service provider. After experiencing an issue with a dishwasher leaking on the rinse cycle I made the mistake of contacting Mark Tango Plumbing. Early communications should have already raised alarm bells, since they were generally unresponsive and didn't follow up with verbal commitments. I was asked to send photographs, which I did, and they indicated they would set something up for the next day. Several days later I had to prompt again to get something scheduled. When we finally did get something scheduled in the morning, I had to contact them at 11:30 to find out where they were, only to be asked how my afternoon looked.

Finally late afternoon they showed up and I found them to be overbearing and patronizing, up-playing a small leak where the extensible faucet was not tight enough. They also aggressively tried to up-sell either replacing or disassembling the toilet (which had a small issue where it ran) that day for $400 because it would ostensibly cost less.

Finally with prodding they looked at the dishwasher and determined the cause of the issue, which was a small hole in the drainage hose. I was told this would be no problem for them to fix but that a part was needed from Doyan's. They offered to get this as a 'favor.'

Two days later the technician came back and spent 2 hours disconnecting the dishwasher only to find that they did not in fact have the knowledge level to change the drainage hose and that I needed to contact an appliance repair shop - though they offered try and take the dishwasher apart if I wanted (clearly not a good idea since they didn't know how).

When I indicated that I was unhappy both for the lost afternoon and the cost, the technician called and had me speak with who I assume was the owner on the phone. I want to stress that I did not say one inappropriate word, though clearly my tone of voice indicated frustration, as I described that I was unhappy because they could have avoided the second trip and advised us to go to an appliance repair shop if only they had done a modicum of checking on the model of the dishwasher.

The individual then proceeded to berate me - telling me I had ""no right to talk to him that way"" and effectively demanding an apology for my ""condescending."" Finally to move on with the conversation I had to indicate that I would not ""condescend"" him any further. Without resorting to hyperbole, I cannot recall a similar instance where I was was spoken to in such a rude manner over the phone.

In the end the they indicated they would charge only for the prior day's visit and the part. But the number given placed the part's cost at $50 even though in a prior text I'd been informed it was $25 and a subsequent call to Doyan's confirmed the part cost $19 and change. The technician then refused to leave until he collected the check - $220 for a $19 part and big waste of time.

Undoubtedly, this was the worst experience with a plumber I've ever had. Recommend avoiding at all costs.

I called Mark Tango because I needed a new disposal. It was two days before the Memorial Day weekend and he was booked solid. He still found the time that Friday to come and install a new disposal. He and his employee Gus completed the job in a timely manner. I definitely will call on Mark Tango Plumbing in the future.
