I contacted the company to get an estimate on multiple repairs that I needed to have done around the house. I asked what their hourly rate is and was told they don't charge an hourly rate, they only charge by the job. For me, I am looking for a plumber (or any service provider for that matter) to be transparent about their prices. In any plumbing job, there is a cost for labor and a cost for parts, this company does not want to provide prospective customers with a view into the labor cost so I will take my business to a plumber that does...In fact, I already found 2 other plumbers on Yelp who were very upfront with their hourly rate so I will go with one of them instead.

I rarely write reviews about businesses but then I've rarely had a worse experience with a service provider. After experiencing an issue with a dishwasher leaking on the rinse cycle I made the mistake of contacting Mark Tango Plumbing. Early communications should have already raised alarm bells, since they were generally unresponsive and didn't follow up with verbal commitments. I was asked to send photographs, which I did, and they indicated they would set something up for the next day. Several days later I had to prompt again to get something scheduled. When we finally did get something scheduled in the morning, I had to contact them at 11:30 to find out where they were, only to be asked how my afternoon looked.

Finally late afternoon they showed up and I found them to be overbearing and patronizing, up-playing a small leak where the extensible faucet was not tight enough. They also aggressively tried to up-sell either replacing or disassembling the toilet (which had a small issue where it ran) that day for $400 because it would ostensibly cost less.

Finally with prodding they looked at the dishwasher and determined the cause of the issue, which was a small hole in the drainage hose. I was told this would be no problem for them to fix but that a part was needed from Doyan's. They offered to get this as a 'favor.'

Two days later the technician came back and spent 2 hours disconnecting the dishwasher only to find that they did not in fact have the knowledge level to change the drainage hose and that I needed to contact an appliance repair shop - though they offered try and take the dishwasher apart if I wanted (clearly not a good idea since they didn't know how).

When I indicated that I was unhappy both for the lost afternoon and the cost, the technician called and had me speak with who I assume was the owner on the phone. I want to stress that I did not say one inappropriate word, though clearly my tone of voice indicated frustration, as I described that I was unhappy because they could have avoided the second trip and advised us to go to an appliance repair shop if only they had done a modicum of checking on the model of the dishwasher.

The individual then proceeded to berate me - telling me I had ""no right to talk to him that way"" and effectively demanding an apology for my ""condescending."" Finally to move on with the conversation I had to indicate that I would not ""condescend"" him any further. Without resorting to hyperbole, I cannot recall a similar instance where I was was spoken to in such a rude manner over the phone.

In the end the they indicated they would charge only for the prior day's visit and the part. But the number given placed the part's cost at $50 even though in a prior text I'd been informed it was $25 and a subsequent call to Doyan's confirmed the part cost $19 and change. The technician then refused to leave until he collected the check - $220 for a $19 part and big waste of time.

Undoubtedly, this was the worst experience with a plumber I've ever had. Recommend avoiding at all costs.

I called Mark Tango because I needed a new disposal. It was two days before the Memorial Day weekend and he was booked solid. He still found the time that Friday to come and install a new disposal. He and his employee Gus completed the job in a timely manner. I definitely will call on Mark Tango Plumbing in the future.

Mark remodeled our entire kitchen. The job was done professionally from the beginning. Mark always returned my phone calls very promptly with any questions that I had. Steve did a fabulous job with the cabinets & tile work. We are very impressed with the detail & expert craftsmanship in his work, always cleaning up after themselves. Doug the electrician had his work cut out for him & I must say the lighting helps accent the kitchen's detailed countertops. I would highly recommend Mark & his crew, our kitchen was completed within the time promised and on budget.

Like some others on here with more recent reviews, I was shocked at the language that Mr. Tango used on the phone with me. He immediately began to scream at me when I referenced a previous price that he had assured me of, and used threatening and sexist language, literally stating to me ""I will put a lien on your house sweetheart, I am going to own your house hunny."" (over a difference of about $50.00 by the way). His tech also decided to re enter my home after he said he was all done and I asked him not to disconnect or further touch the unit, and I had no clue that he was still inside my home. The tech kept walking in and out to ""talk to Mark"" which he apparently could not do in front of me. When Mark went back on his word about the price, I told the tech that I would mail the agreed upon amount to his office since no payment amount was being agreed upon. Then, the tech decided to tell me that his boss was going to show up at my home at night and not leave until payment was collected. Do not bother counting on the guarantee on his website because he does not even attempt to follow it. He will give you a verbal price and then go back on it and try to sell you a ""service plan"" where you spend $100 a year to receive 15% discount on future plumbing work. All because he wants to get an increased payment amount because if you choose not to ""sign up"" he gives you a $100 increase in price regardless!

I had a two month old dishwasher that was leaking, I had a lengthy conversation with Mark where I explained that the unit was under warranty and I just needed someone to take a quick look to say where the leak was coming from, I told him I knew it was a 5-10 min. job. He told me that if that was the case he would not charge me his $150.00 price. I had a friend let the tech. inside my home and asked them to tell me when the tech arrived and have all communication go through me, which my friend complied with.

I clocked the tech at less than 10 min before he called me from my friend's phone to speak with him. He told me point blank ""this is not a plumbing or installation unit, there is nothing I could even do, it is the back of the dishwasher and was not manufactured correctly from the factory, you need to call and use the warranty."" He asked if I wanted the unit to be disconnected and I explicitly said ""no, I am going to call for warranty repair right now and they do not want anything touched further."" I thanked him and he told me that he was going outside to call and get a price from Mark. He then re-entered my home without my knowledge, and I had no clue he was even there (my friend was in the other room and thought he had left also). He then tells my friend that he ""tightened some knobs"" to see if that would fix the problem but it did not fix the problem. He then tells me that now it will be $150 charge since he was there longer, or I could pay $50 (this was closer to the price Mr. Tango had spoken to me about) and mandatory payment of $100 for entry into the service club which gave me ""plumbing discounts"" for one year. When I called Mark to ask him why he was charging me the 150$ and why his tech did unauthorized work, and asked him what price we could set based on our previous agreement and conversation, he SCREAMED , loudly, and started calling me a ""hunny, sweetheart, listen up hunny, etc."" ""little girl playing games"" and threatened to ""get a lien on my house and end up owning my home, do you want to be homeless?"" When I said to him ""my name is not hunny, and there is no need to yell, I have every intention to pay a fair price but your tech only did 10 min of authorized work"" he said ""No he was there for hours before he called you"" and I responded ""That's not true I have it all documented of when he arrived and I can prove that"" he screamed so loud I could only hear what I thought were some expletives and hung up."" I was absolutely shocked, and then when the tech told me that Mark was going to come to my house late at night to collect payment, I was actually disturbed and concerned. I have no problem paying Mr. Tango and actually mailed him a check the same day.... I just continue to be bewildered about what this man's issue is.

Just once, I'd like to deal with a contractor that doesn't treat customers and potential customers like non-essentials. Nice that some reviewers here had great experiences - I guess they're the lucky ones. I continue to encounter contractors like Mr. Tango who yes, answered my call (as his advertising touts), but then never called back. I gave him my contact info, per his request, and waited until he ""would be setting up his schedule that evening."" Never heard a peep.
