In 1986, Johnny began his journey in plumbing in Illinois. After completing his apprenticeship, he earned his state license and worked for the same company for 12 years. After that, he brought his family to Higginsville and worked in Kansas City for a while. He later discovered a small plumbing business in Grain Valley that specialized in plumbing for new homes. People in Higginsville started calling for plumbing help, gradually increasing. After roughly a year, the influx of calls prompted him to establish his own business, calling it Sword & Shield Plumbing. A few years down the line, he relocated his family to Heartland Dairy to become the chief plumber. Two years after that, he received an offer to relocate to Kentucky as a supervisor for a major plumbing service. Finally, he returned to Higginsville in 2005 to restart Sword & Shield Plumbing.
